First of the Harbingers
Capitano currently holds the position as First of the Fatui Harbingers, placing him directly below its Director, Pierro. Judging from the previous encounters of the Traveler with Capitano, he's one of the most reasonable and level-headed members amongst his fellow Harbingers.

When talking to Viktor in the Catherdral during the Tales of Winter commission, he mentions that he would prefer to work under Capitano if given the chance. This could mean Capitano is the most reasonable out of all the Harbingers. What would this mean about the others? Who's to say?
Encountered Grand Master Varka
It was revealed in the Version 3.1 Of Ballads and Brews event that Mondstadt's Grand Master Varka had an encounter with Capitano. Varka explained via letter that Capitano wasn't hostile towards them and suspects that its because they have the same agenda.
Knights Talk About the Encounter
After the cutscene where Mika read the letter, you can overhear a couple of Knights talking near Jean's office. They were relieved that nothing came of it and that Varka may be stronger than The Captain enough to defeat at least ten of him.

Last Spotted in Natlan
Capitano is currently in Natlan, and is the featured Harbinger of Version 5, as was Arlecchino with Version 4, and Wanderer back in Version 3. However, Capitano isn't a part of the antagonistic elements that threaten the Traveler and Natlan, rather the Harbinger is actively working alongside them, united under a flag of saving humanity.

Thrain is Capitano's Original Name
Thrain is Capitano's Natlanese name, as mentioned by Mavuika after Ororon interprets the Traveler's strange dream in the As the Sun Rises and Sets archon quest.
In the dream, the Traveler saw Guthred, the man who tried to possess Ororon before, standing behind Capitano. Ororon explains that Guthred and Capitano were both famous in Natlan hundreds of years ago, as they were both partners. Mavuika later reveals that people who read the old records of Natlan can only make the connection between Capitano and Thrain, a Natlan legendary hero from the past.

Died in Natlan
It was revealed during the Ode of Incandescent Resurrection that the primary goal of the Captain is to bring a place of salvation to all his Khaenri'ahn comrades, whose souls he carry within his modified heart.
Because of being cursed to be immortal, the Captain was forced to endure centuries of torment trying to give rest to his fallen compatriots, until he's encountered the Lord of the Night, Yohualtehcutin, and struck a deal with the Angel to merge his soul with hers, thereby making him master of Natlan's Ley Lines. From this, Capitano plans on revising the rule of Natlan, whereby outlanders's souls can finally enter the Night Kingdom, as their place of rest.
A Khaenri'ahn Commander
During the Beneath the Secret Source Archon Quest, the soul of Guthred, a warrior from Khaenri'ah who presumably worked under The Captain 500 years ago, called Capitano “...Commander”.
Capitano also mentions fleeing Khaenri'ah during the Cataclysm with his Platoon, but it's likely that all of its members have died in Natlan, eventually. This is also probably how the soul of Guthred managed to possess Ororon, having been trapped in the Night Kingdom because of dying in Natlan.

Doesn't Know Dainsleif Personally
And while Capitano was originally a Commander of Khaenri'ah, he mentions having no personal encounters with the Twilight Sword, Dainsleif, excluding the one time that he'd seen him with the Abyss Twin back then. Having said this, Guthred (who worked under Capitano) and Halfdan (an elite who worked under Dainsleif), wore the same uniform.

Capitano's Release Date
Despite being a central figure in Chapter 5, Capitano is confirmed to have died in Natlan, which pretty much establishes that Capitano is not going to be playable, like his deceased fellow-Harbinger, Signora.

Capitano was first revealed in the Teyvat Chapter Interlude Teaser: A Winter Night's Lazzo video on YouTube as the Captain. The video contains spoilers of the Inazuma Archon Quest and previews Snezhnaya and characters that will be coming in the future!

Anonymous 4 monthsThere is very well a chance he might come back, especially after the Lord of the knight made a deal with the sibling with one "condition" which may include Capitano lol, hes also not dead. Just half half, I still have hope for him. Not to mention that he literally follows every rule that playable characters have. Like, not being an npc but marked as a playable character in the files, having a signature weapon, passing the albedo test and especially having a weapon slot and running animations
