Sethos is a Main DPS who offers two distinct yet versatile piercing playstyles depending on his current Energy. If a situation arises that he can't use his Elemental Burst, his instant Charged Attacks are there to serve for the downtime. If you have it up, his Elemental Burst transforms him to a Normal Attacker.

Optimally, he requires a battery, which would allow you to choose either playstyles depending on the situation you're currently in. This also allows him to potentially conjunct these two playstyles one after the other in a given rotation.

Stat-wise, he is incredibly squishy with average base stats as a 4-star DPS with no resistance to interruption, but he also has access to reactions like Hyperbloom and Aggravate, which still makes him relevant.

Sethos Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths
• Piercing DMG gives Sethos a good avenue to deal multi-target damage, even allowing him to hit Bloom Cores in the arrow's flight path.
• Elemental Skill gives Sethos a swift exit out of bad positions and regenerates Elemental Energy to be used by his Empowered Shots.
• Scales on Elemental Mastery and is an Electro unit, granting him access to Aggravate and Hyperbloom in his playstyles.
• Has two distinct playstyles that focus on either frontloaded damage with his Charged Shots, or sustained damage with his Elemental Burst.
Weaknesses
• Energy-hungry due to how quickly he eats up Elemental Energy, requiring an Electro battery to keep him topped up.
• Level 2 Charged Shot forces Sethos to become immobile, rendering him susceptible to interruption and damage.
• The Charged Shots cost some of Sethos' Elemental Energy, delaying the usage of his next combo if he cannot recover it.

Sethos' best build consists of building a mix of CRIT and Elemental Mastery to serve as an Aggravate DPS character, utilizing both his Charged Attack and Normal Attack strengths.

For this, we recommend grabbing an Elemental Mastery Sands, then prioritizing his Electro DMG and CRIT stats afterwards.

Sethos Talent Priority

1st 2nd 3rd
Normal Attack Elemental Burst Elemental Skill

Most of Sethos' damage comes from his Level 2 Charged Shots, which means prioritizing his Normal Attacks are a must. This will then be followed up by his Elemental Burst due to the scalings it provides for his damage.

His Elemental Skill can be saved for last as it is mostly used to reposition and regain Elemental Energy.

Sethos' best artifact set is Wanderer's Troupe since he capitalizes on Elemental Mastery to improve his damage.

Other options include Gilded Dreams for Elemental Mastery, Thundering Fury for general Electro buffs, and even 2-piece mixes of any of the above sets.

Rating Constellation Effect / Merits
C2 ★★★ • Gives Sethos a sizable increase in damage in all of his playstyles, with the trigger conditions being near unconditional.
C6 ★★★ • Solves all of Sethos' energy issues by refunding the Elemental Energy cost of his Aimed Shots if he hits the opponent.

C6 Minimizes his Biggest Downside

Sethos' best constellation is undoubtedly C6 as having the ability to essentially gain free buffed Aimed Shots with no cost gives him the opportunity to match other Aimed Shot characters with less downsides.

Sethos Talents and How to Use

Sethos Combat Rotations

All-In Rotation

Sample All-In Rotation
Elemental Burst → Elemental Skill → Empowered Normal Attack

Sethos' main and quick rotation has him use his Elemental Burst after his team's supportive setup, then following up with his Elemental Skill to backpedal him away from danger where he can spam his Empowered Normal Attacks.

Afterwards, switch back to his supports to restart the rotation, then back to Sethos to repeat the combo again.

All-In Rotation with Charged Attacks

Sample All-In Charged Attack Rotation
Elemental Burst → Normal Attack → Elemental Skill → 3 Charged Attacks

Sethos can instead opt to use his Normal Attacks directly after using his Elemental Burst, followed up by his Elemental Skill to fuel his Empowered Charged Shots with.

This rotation deals more damage but will leave Sethos energy-hungry unless he has ample Electro batteries, so this will be used if the player is confident that the enemy will die within the rotation.

Short Charged Attack Rotation

Charged Attack Rotation
Elemental Skill → 3 Charged Attacks

His short burstless rotation has him using his Elemental Skill to create space and regenerate energy, then quickly overwhelming the opponent with three Level 2 Charged Shots.

Normal Attack

Normal Attack: Royal Reed Archery
Performs up to 3 consecutive shots with a bow.
Charge Attack
Performs a more precise Aimed Shot with increased DMG.
While aiming, the power of Electro will accumulate on the arrowhead before the arrow is fired. Has different effects based on how long the energy has been charged:
• Charge Level 1: Fires off an arrow carrying the power of lightning that deals Electro DMG.
• Charge Level 2: Fires off a Shadowpiercing Shot which can pierce enemies, dealing Electro DMG to enemies along its path. After the Shadowpiercing Shot is fully charged, Sethos cannot move around.

Empowered Charged Shots

Sethos has the ability to charge his Aimed Shots to Level 2, which immobilizes him but allows him to fire piercing Electro bolts to hit multiple foes at once, with the time to charge lowering if it consumes a portion of his Elemental Energy.

This part of his kit is expected to mainly be used when his Elemental Burst is down, allowing him to take precise, deadly shots at enemies from range.

Elemental Skill

Ancient Rite: The Thundering Sands
Gathers the might of thunder, dealing AoE Electro DMG and quickly retreating. If this attack triggers Electro-Charged, Superconduct, Overloaded, Quicken, Aggravate, Hyperbloom, or Electro Swirl reactions, Sethos recovers a certain amount of Elemental Energy.

Space-Creating Elemental Skill

Sethos' Elemental Skill makes him dash backwards from the opponent, leaving a small surge of Electro DMG at the dash origin, and regenerating a modest amount of Elemental Energy for him.

Similar to other Aimed Shot users, this is mainly used to create space between him and his opponents, punishing them for getting close and setting him up for his next shot.

Elemental Burst

Secret Rite: Twilight Shadowpiercer
Perform a secret rite, entering the “Twilight Meditation” state, during which Sethos's Normal Attacks will be converted into enemy-piercing Dusk Bolts: Deal Electro DMG to opponents in its path, with DMG increased based on Sethos's Elemental Mastery. Sethos cannot perform Aimed Shots while in this state. DMG dealt by Dusk Bolts is considered Charged Attack DMG. This effect will be canceled when Sethos leaves the field.

Elemental Burst Changes his Playstyle

Sethos' Elemental Burst empowers his Normal Attacks with the same power as his Level 2 Charged Shots, allowing him to fire faster piercing shots by using his Normal Attacks instead.

This also makes Elemental Reactions extremely potent if Sethos is in this mode, significantly raising the effectiveness of reactions like Aggravate.

Passive Talent 1

Black Kite's Enigma
When Aiming, the charging time is decreased by 0.285s based on each point of Sethos's current Elemental Energy. Charging time can be reduced to a minimum of 0.3s through this method and a maximum of 20 Energy can be tallied. If a Shadowpiercing Shot is fired, consume the tallied amount of Elemental Energy; if it is a Charge Level 1 shot, then consume 50% of the tallied amount of Elemental Energy.

Faster Charged Shots for Higher Damage

Sethos' A1 Passive allows his Charged Shots to be augmented based on his Elemental Mastery, but coming at the cost of his Elemental Energy.

It serves as a good tradeoff that allows Sethos to deal damage if he has the required energy to pull through with the Level 2 Aimed Shot.

Passive Talent 2

The Sand King's Boon
Sethos gains the "Scorching Sandshade" effect, increasing the DMG dealt by Shadowpiercing Shots by 700% of Sethos's Elemental Mastery. The Scorching Sandshade effect will be canceled when any of the following conditions are met:
· 5s after a Shadowpiercing Shot first hits an opponent.
· After 4 Shadowpiercing Shots strike opponents.

When a Shadowpiercing Shot affected by Scorching Sandshade first hits an opponent, Sethos will regain Scorching Sandshade after 15s."

Gives Sethos a Large Damage Aimed Shot

For a small window, one or a few of Sethos' Aimed Shots will deal significantly more damage than the others, allowing Sethos to essentially one-shot a few key enemies in combat if the conditions are met.

Passive Talent 3

Thoth's Revelation
Displays the location of nearby resources unique to Sumeru on the mini-map.

Locate Sumeru Specialties Easier

Sethos can guide players to Sumeru's local specialties, hastening the progress for building their future Sumeru characters.

Sethos In-Game Information

Leader of the Temple of Silence

Genshin - Sethos

Sethos is the adoptive grandson of Bamoun, who served as the previous leader of the Temple of Silence. Following the Rite of Duels, he currently leads the Temple of Silence as its newly appointed leader.

He had been with the Temple from a very young age, having been raised within its walls and traditions, and ultimately ended up sharing the same goals as the organization.

Temple of Silence

Empowered by Hermanubis

Genshin - Sethos Hermanubis Power

Sethos is one of the two beings empowered by the Ba Fragments of Hermanubis, with the other being Cyno. This power was given to them during a Temple of Silence experiment that was conducted on them when they were children.

This power is responsible for Cyno's ability to summon Claws, with Sethos having a similar ability as well. These fragments are shards of Hermanubis' power, who used them to defend his people during the early days of the desert.

Participated in the Rite of Duels

Genshin - Sethos Rite of Duels

In order to settle a long-time conflict between the two Ba Fragment owners, Cyno and Sethos both agreed to the Rite of Duels, an ancient tradition during the conception of the Temple of Silence.

This Duel's goal was to resolve the conflict by allowing the winner to reclaim both of the Ba Fragments, gaining the full remaining power of the shard.

Lost his Hermanubis Fragment to Cyno

Genshin - Sethos Leader

During Cyno's Story Quest Act 2, before the Rite of Duels, the consensus was to appoint whoever had the most Ba Fragments as the new leader of the Temple of Silence.

The fight was eventually won by Cyno, and although Sethos lost his Ba Fragment, he was given leadership over the organization by Cyno, who believed that he was better off leading the group due to his familiarity with it.

Thoughts about Sethos

Character In-Game Thoughts
Genshin Impact - Candace ImageCandace The sons and daughters of King Deshret are a proud people, and he is no exception. I have heard his tale, of Hermanubis' glory dwelling within a worthy vessel. I also understand he has been active in Sumeru City recently? Apparently, he has spoken to Cyno and other friends of his plans to visit Aaru Village. I look forward to hosting him.
Genshin Impact - Cyno ImageCyno Sethos has a strong sense of responsibility. I have the utmost respect for his skill as a warrior, and I admire his courage. He's also been a great help to me personally, and I'm sure that cooperation between the Akademiya and the Temple of Silence will go very smoothly with him leading the Temple.
Nevertheless, he does have one flaw — he doesn't play nearly enough Genius Invokation TCG for my liking. Every time I invite him to play, he's either busy with work, about to go out for a meal, or has existing plans with other friends... Excuses, all of them! Are we not his best friends in all of Sumeru City?
Genshin Impact - Dehya ImageDehya Oh yeah, I only found out about him being from the Temple of Silence recently, too. Ahh, sorry, no — I'm no expert in mysterious organizations like that. Seen him a few times in the desert though. He's very down-to-earth. Once when my guys got into some trouble in the desert, he was kind enough to share his drinking water with them. Nice guy.
Genshin Impact - Faruzan ImageFaruzan Oh? You mean the new arrival? Yes, didn't he show up at the perfect time! I still don't know which Darshan he belongs to, but I seem to run into him all the time these days: out on the streets, in shops, at restaurants... It's like he's everywhere at once. The way he nods his head when he talks, it's like... oh, I don't know, like... a little puppy, yes. Eloquent young fellow, too. Seems like a good egg. Anyway, are you acquainted with him? You must encourage him to enroll in my classes. Tell him Madam Faruzan will take good care of him.
Genshin Impact - Tighnari ImageTighnari Sethos? Pretty interesting guy. He's like a distant cousin of Cyno's. Really easy to get along with. Last time he visited us in Gandharva Ville, he insisted on showing off his tent-pitching skills and had a fishing competition with Cyno. Collei got really upset, because she thought there was nothing for her to do anymore... People say Sethos is good at keeping himself amused - he certainly seems pretty cheerful. But he takes his work very seriously. Hmm, although I don't know how accurate "work" is - I think he sees his role at the Temple of Silence as more of a kind of duty. Anyway, if you ever find yourself needing assistance in the desert, I'm sure he'd be a good person to go to.
Genshin Impact - Wanderer ImageWanderer What makes you think I know him? The fact that he's always following me around and asking for a closer look at my hat? We've barely spoken before. The first time we me he came up and asked me if I was Hat Guy. Last time I checked, judging someone by their appearance is superficial. Hmph, somehow, everyone knows the name ''Hat Guy'' now...

Sethos's Thoughts about Others

Character In-Game Thoughts
Genshin Impact - Alhaitham ImageAlhaitham About Alhaitham and Kaveh
I saw those two at the tavern once. And another time at the cafe...Actually, I think I saw them once at the Grand Bazaar, too. The architect guy, he's atways talking in a hushed tone — I guess he doesn't want people to hear, but uh... Okay, it's not like I purposely listen in, it's just... Something about those two guys hanging out together, you just can't look away.
Genshin Impact - Candace ImageCandace About Candace
Have you ever experienced Candace's hospitality? She cooks very generous portions — even I could barely finish. So long as you're on the receiving end of her hospitality and not her wrath, you'll live a long and happy life.
Genshin Impact - Cyno ImageCyno About Cyno
Cyno is truly outstanding — absolutely a worthy heir to Henrmanubis's power. As General Mahamatra, he has the utmost reverence for knowledge and wisdom. If the Akademiya and the Temple of Silence do start working together again, I'll take comfort in the fact that he's there. Oh yeah, and another great thing about Cyno: You know the way he talks? It's just... so funny.
Genshin Impact - Dehya ImageDehya About Dehya
Flame-Mane... everyone in the desert knows that name. The Eremites aren't exactly saints, as I'm sure you know, but Dehya's one of the few solid and dependable ones out there. If you ever want to explore the Great Red Sand; Dehya's the second-best guide you.could ask for. First-best being me, obviously.
Genshin Impact - Faruzan ImageFaruzan About Faruzan
It's so rare to meet someone even more chummy than me! One minute I was taking a stroll near the Akademiya, the next minute she'd taken me on as a student, and was insisting on giving me a tour. She gave me a real fright, though, because she said that if I joined Haravatat, I'd get the 20-tongues language-learning package, mastery of all 100% guaranteed... I asked around, and it seems like that's just an in-joke among Akademiya students — there is no 20-language graduation requirement after all. But I don't get it... how is that funny? It's only gonna put people off studying there.
Genshin Impact - Kaveh ImageKaveh About Alhaitham and Kaveh
I saw those two at the tavern once. And another time at the cafe...Actually, I think I saw them once at the Grand Bazaar, too. The architect guy, he's atways talking in a hushed tone — I guess he doesn't want people to hear, but uh... Okay, it's not like I purposely listen in, it's just... Something about those two guys hanging out together, you just can't look away.
Genshin Impact - Nilou ImageNilou About Nilou
I usually can't stay still for more than a few minutes, but Zubayr Theater is one place I don't mind just standing and watching while Nilou dances on the stage. It's a rare skill to be able to bring people such a sense of peace.
Genshin Impact - Tighnari ImageTighnari About Tighnari
Tighnari's made of strong stuff. I only found out after the fact that he doesn't cope well with the desert climate — never would've guessed from how he performed in the Rite of Duels. I was also surprised when he sent me a letter inviting me to visit Gandharva Ville, saying it would be a good chance to meet some of Cyno's friends. Are those guys always such a hoot with their jokes? Dinner with them must be hilarious — I can't wait!
Genshin Impact - Wanderer ImageWanderer About Wanderer
Who is that guy, anyway? A foreign exchange student, or something? He has a pretty incredible hat, never seen anything like it. I tried to get a closer look once, but then I, blinked and he was gone. Shame. I won't let him get away next time, though. I also hear he has some pretty interesting ideas... Gotta have a chat with him sometime!

Slingshot is arguably his best in slot but it's not even in the top 3??? I've been testing him on 4pc Desert Pavillion with much great results before he and his team (Fischl, Nahida, Baizhu- all 70 except for Nahida at 80) are even fully leveled/ascended. Please test him with that. Also Baizhu, Zhongli, or Kirara for shields (which negates the interruption issue) and Furina for support as options are not even mentioned here.
