Elemental Mastery is an attribute that amplifies the Elemental Reactions. The higher your Elemental Mastery, the more powerful the reactions will be!
Make sure to raise your Elemental Mastery for your Main DPS characters that rely on Elemental Reactions like Vaporize or Melt to maximize their damage output!
Elemental Mastery can buff all elements and their reactions. Most elemental reactions are offensive, and Elemental Mastery simply adds more damage to the reaction damage. On the other hand, Geo reactions increases the Shield's effectivity.
|Elemental Reaction||Elemental Mastery Effect|
|Creates Dendro Cores that explodes and deals AoE Dendro damage.|
|Continuously deals Pyro damage until it wears off.|
|Increases the shield's effect from the element reacted.|
|Increases the Electro AoE reaction damage.|
|Renders immobilization for a period of time.|
|Increases the damage multiplied by the reacting element.|
|Increases the Pyro AoE reaction damage.|
|Increases the damage by the reacting element.|
|Increases the Physical damage dealt when Frozen enemies are hit by blunt attack.|
|Increases the Cryo AoE reaction damage.|
|Increases the Swirled Element's AoE damage.|
|Increases the damage multiplied by the reacting element.|
Note that Elemental Mastery has no known effect when applying the Frozen reaction.
The following changes to Elemental Mastery was applied in Version 1.6.
|Version 1.6 Elemental Mastery Changes|
| ・ Increases the damage caused by major reactions (Electro-Charged, Superconduct, Overloaded, Shatter, and Swirl) when a character reaches level 60 and above|
・Increase the Base Shield DMG Absorption for shields generated by Crystallize reactions
・Increases the DMG Bonus provided by Elemental Mastery for major reactions. (Refer to the attributes panel in-game for the exact DMG Bonus amount.)
The character that applied the 2nd element is the one whose Elemental Mastery is taken into account. You should upgrade your Main DPS's Elemental Mastery especially those that have Pyro, Hydro, or Cryo element to improve their damage output.
Sub-DPS and Supports generally do not need Elemental Mastery, as they are the ones applying the 1st Element. Instead, they benefit more from Energy Recharge to output more Elemental Bursts.
|Best Characters for Elemental Mastery Stat|
|Diluc||• Diluc can output high and consistent Pyro DMG especially with Vaporize or Melt. It is recommended to build Elemental Mastery sands on him if you are using an ATK% weapon.|
|Hu Tao||• Hu Tao in tandem with Xingqiu can deal consistent Vaporize. It is recommended to have some Elemental Mastery on her artifact substats.|
|Kazuha||• Kazuha transforms Elemental Mastery into Elemental DMG Bonus for the teammate based on the Swirled element. Stacking Elemental Mastery will also increase his own personal damage from Swirl.|
|Nahida||• Nahida provides high Elemental Mastery bonus to an active party member in the duration of her Elemental Burst. It is also recommended to stack EM stats for Nahida as each point of her EM surpassing 200 grants 0.1% DMG bonus and 0.03% CRIT Rate for her Elemental Skill.|
|Sucrose||• Sucrose provides Elemental Mastery to her teammates based on her own Elemental Mastery. Stacking Elemental Mastery on her Artifacts provides a huge damage increase to your Main DPS.|
|Tartaglia||• Tartaglia's Elemental Burst scaling is huge. It is recommended to have some Elemental Mastery on him if you are planning to trigger Vaporize.|
|Venti||• Venti's Elemental Burst infuses an Element and constantly Swirls it to all enemies trapped inside the vortex. Having Elemental Mastery weapons such as The Stringless is recommended.|
|Xiangling||• Xiangling can consistently Vaporize or Melt when she's teamed up with fast Elemental appliers like Tartaglia or Xingqiu for Hydro.|
Elemental Mastery either as main stat or sub stat on artifacts or weapons can greatly increase their damage output or their support capabilities. It is recommended to build some Elemental Mastery on their stats to maximize their effects.
A minimum of 500 to 800 Elemental Mastery is the best for Elemental Mastery users. For characters that will primarily use EM for Elemental Reactions, such as Support or Sub-DPS builds for Sucrose, Kazuha, and Nahida, you need as much Elemental Mastery as possible without sacrificing their other stats.
Elemental Mastery increases the damage multiplier on the initial damage you deal to enemies when causing an elemental reaction. This means raising only Elemental Mastery won't deal high damage if you don't increase your character's ATK stat.
Do take note that Elemental Mastery has diminishing returns if you do not build enough ATK or Crit Rate/Crit DMG on them, so make sure you are also building these important stats!
A healthy build is to find a middle ground between raising Elemental Mastery and other stats like Crit DMG and ATK, as most Elemental Skills scale with the latter.
You can raise your Elemental Mastery by equipping artifacts with Elemental Mastery stat. Some artifacts have Elemental Mastery as their main stat, such as the Sands of Eon, Goblet of Eonothem, and the Circlet of Logos. You can also receive Elemental Mastery by rolling on substats.
There are artifact sets that can increase your Elemental Mastery as well. Seek these out if you want to improve your character's Elemental Mastery.
