This is a guide to Elemental Mastery, a character stat in Genshin Impact. Read on to learn what Elemental Mastery is, its effects, and how to increase it.
List of Contents
The higher your Elemental Mastery, the more damage you can deal from Elemental Reactions. Make sure to raise your Elemental Mastery for characters that rely on elemental attacks to maximize their damage output!
Elemental Mastery not only increases the damage of Elemental Reactions, but it also makes Geo shields stronger. Higher Elemental Mastery improves Crystallized reactions, creating shields that absorb more damage.
The following changes to Elemental Mastery will be applied to Update 1.6:
・ Increases the damage caused by major reactions (Electro-Charged, Superconduct, Overloaded, Shatter, and Swirl) when a character reaches level 60 and above.
・Increase the Base Shield DMG Absorption for shields generated by Crystallize reactions.
・Increases the DMG Bonus provided by Elemental Mastery for major reactions. (Refer to the attributes panel in-game for the exact DMG Bonus amount.)
The character that applied the 2nd element is the one who's Elemental Mastery is taken into account. Upgrading your main DPS' Elemental Mastery and having Sub DPS and Support characters apply the first elemental reaction is a great battle plan.
Elemental Mastery is a damage multiplier on the initial damage you deal to enemies when causing an elemental reaction.
This means raising only Elemental Mastery won't deal high damage if you don't increase your character's ATK stat.
A lv.4 Claw and Thunder press damage is a 249% modifier. having 1000 Attack causes it to deal 2500 damage (rounded). Keeping a high attack stat is necessary instead of focusing on elemental mastery alone.
A healthy build is to find a middle ground between raising Elemental Mastery and Attack as elemental skill damage also scales with your Attack stat.
You can raise your Elemental Mastery by using artifacts. Some artifacts have Elemental Mastery as their main stat, such as the Sands of Eon and Circlet of Logos.
You can also receive Elemental Mastery as a substat for artifacts
There are artifact sets too that can increase your Elemental Mastery. Seek these out if you want to improve your character's Elemental Mastery.

Leveling up artifacts can also cause them to gain new properties. Such properties include bonus HP, ATK, and even more Elemental Mastery. Make sure to level up the best artifacts you find!
There are also weapons that increase Elemental Mastery. All weapons increase your character's attack but some weapons can also bestow Elemental mastery as a substat.
