Vacher Lore and Story

Adventurer who Lost his Lover Vigniere in Fontaine

Vacher was once an Adventurer who worked with his lover, Vigniere. The two of them came across a Pool of Primordial Seawater, which had the ability to turn anyone from Fontaine into water with just one touch.

Vigniere accidentally touched the Primordial Seawater and dissolved, leaving Vacher, who was not from Fontaine, unable to follow her.

Began Research into Water from the Primordial Sea

Started Kidnapping Young Women for Experiments

Vacher started researching the Water from the Primordial Sea, attempting to bring Vigniere back from her death. He began kidnapping young women from Fontaine to experiment on, unknowingly making them join Vigniere in the Primordial waters.

Assumed the Identity of Marcel

To fund his research, Vacher assumed the identity of Marcel and began a small merchant business that eventually grew into the Confrerie of Cabriere. On the surface, he was an ally and supporter of the Spina di Rosula organization.

Developed the Sinthe Drug

Eventually, Vacher developed the Sinthe drug, a diluted version of the Primordial Waters that caused pleasant hallucinations and deadly withrawal effects. The drug became popular despite its dangers.

Framed Callas for Murder

Marcel's Sinthe drug gained enough notoriety to get the attention of the Spina di Rosula and its leader, Callas, also known as Navia's father.

To cover his tracks, Marcel attempted to get Callas assassinated, and when that failed, he framed Callas for murder. Rather than attempting a trial, Callas chose to die in a duel with Clorinde instead.

Attempted to Frame Lyney for Murder

As time passed, Lyney began looking into the cases of disappearing women as well. Marcel had used Lyney's assistant and a Garde to try framing him for the disappearances of the women, but ultimately failed.

Attempted to Assassinate the Traveler and Navia

After Lyney was deemed innocent and the existence and ability of the Water from the Primordial Sea became public knowledge, Marcel attempted to assassinate the Traveler and Navia twice.

Attempted to Frame Childe for the Women's Disappearances

Not long after Lyney's trial concluded, Childe was brought up as a suspect in the disappearance cases. The Harbinger was more inclined to attempt dueling than a trial, but Navia arrived in time to prove his innocence and prove Marcel to be the mastermind.

What Happened to Vacher?

Died at the Hands of his Victims

After Vacher's trial, the Traveler revealed that they heard his name at the Fountain of Lucine. Vacher insisted on going there, attempting to meet Vigniere again. But what met him was the presence of all the women he had killed, and Vigniere no longer holding any love for him.

It was mentioned that he had died from fright later on.
