Kichiboushi Story and Lore

Guardians of Chinju Forest

Kichiboushi is one of the many Bake-Danuki residing in Chinju Forest. He and his fellow Bake-Danuki are protectors of the forest. They are all under the command of the most powerful and largest Bake-Danuki, Ioroi.

One of Ioroi's Apprentice

Kichiboushi is one of Ioroi's apprentices, along with two others, Shousei and Gyoubu Koban. Ioroi teaches them magic and the ways of the Tanuki, and hopes that they will be stronger in the future.

Once Sealed in Stone

During the Cleansing Defilement quest, Ioroi would tell the story of how he and his fellow Bake-Danuki were turned to stone by a shrine maiden after they wrecked havoc across Narukami Island. Some of the Bake-Danuki eventually broke free from the seal, including Kichiboushi.

It was also mentioned that the reason Ioroi had caused trouble was because he wanted to lure out the former Kitsune Saiguu and win the game of Hide-and-Seek he played with her 500 years ago.

Wishes to Free Ioroi

In the Eight Locales Over Mountains and Seas event, Kichiboushi revealed that he underwent training with the goal of becoming powerful enough to free Ioroi from his stone prison.

Kichiboushi cares deeply about Ioroi and his fellow Bake-Danuki, and is saddened at the thought of himself and his fellows being stuck as a stone statue.
