Cocouik was first introduced as the companion of Bona, the mysterious adventurer from the Flower-Feather Clan who accompanied the Traveler until we reached the Tonatiuh. As mentioned by Bona, Cocouik suddenly appeared in front of her, and the pair have since then stuck by each other until the Traveler came across them.

During the Moment of Awakening quest, Cocouik had suddenly connected to the beaten body of the evil dragon, eventually re-introducing itself as Och-Kan, the infamous ruler of Tonatiuh. It was later on revealed that Och-Kan swallowed a poison to end his life, however the Abyss has likely corrupted his body and soul, therefore tormenting the very race he sworn to have loved.

In hindsight, it looks like the continuous barrage of Cocouik's suppressive powers weakened the Abyss Corruption that enveloped the evil dragon, thereby paving the way of reconnecting with its original body and soul.
