Hellion Mode Effects

Rampage Skill Effect
Hellion Mode Attacking in Demon Mode turns every attack into a critical hit, but also doubles sharpness degredation.

Increases Dual Blades Affinity for Sharpness Reduction

Hellion Mode grants increased affinity when in Demon Mode or Feral Demon Mode at the cost of doubling sharpness used per attack. This drawback can be mitigated with skills like Master's Touch or Protective Polish. Exiting Demon Mode reverts the affinity and sharpness reduction back to normal.

What is Affinity?: How to Raise Affinity Stat

100% Affinity

-10% Affinity

The affinity becomes 100% no matter the base affinity when added as a weapon ramp-up, making all attacks critical hits. Note that the Hellion Mode ramp-up is exclusive to the Low and High Rank Felyne Dual Blades tree.

Raging Jewel 3 Only Increases Affinity by 20%

0% Affinity

However, when added to any Master Rank Dual Blades using the Raging Jewel 3 rampage decoration, affinity is only boosted by 20% while retaining the sharpness penalty. This includes the Raging Claws+ and Raging Paws as they don't carry over the ramp-up skill.

For this reason, it's better to equip the Daora Soul Jewel 3 instead as it has a similar bonus without the sharpness penalty.

hi! thanks for updating that and for your awesome guides

Hi, anon, the Raging Paws are Master Rank Dual Blades, so it no longer has the same 100% affinity Hellion Mode as its Low and High Rank counterparts. The Raging Jewel 3 decoration will work the same for all MR Dual Blades, including the Felyne tree. We've updated the guide to clarify this.
