When you ride another monster and attack the Almudron, there tends to be a lot of dropped materials, increasing the chances of getting a Almudron Plate.
Breaking parts gives you more chances of getting a plate, so always aim to break parts!
Plates are more likely to drop on High Rank monsters, so if you're really looking for it, fight the HR version of the Almudron.
