You will be able to farm for Chipped Oldbone as soon as you get access to the Master Rank map of Citadel.
You can obtain this item from Bonepiles around the map. You can also use your Palamute when you go on expeditions to farm certain items as you can use their Sniff 'em Out! ability to help you look for farming nodes!
| 1 |  Head to Area 12 and use your Wirebug to reach the a giant tree stump. Drop down inside and head left to reach the first Bonepile. |

| 2 |  Follow the path to reach the Citadel's secret area to get the second Bonepile. Use the Great Wirebug to head back near the base. |
| 3 |  Use the Great Wirebug on top of the tower to head back to the main map and follow the route. |
| 4 |  To reach Bonepile 7, head down the hill and look for a small opening. Enter the opening and you will find a Bonepile. |
| 5 |  Fast travel to the sub-camp and head outside. |
| 6 |  To reach Bonepiles 9 and 10, climb up the icy cliff with your Wirebug. Bonepile 10 is situated at a platform near Bonepile 9, and can be reached with a Wirebug. |
| 7 |  Head east and ascend the icy cliff once more to reach Bonepile 11. |
| 8 |  Bonepile 12 is found underground, which can be accessed near a cave in Area 8. |
