The easiest spot to farm Whetfish is the Fishing Spot near the starting camp in Lava Caverns both in Low Rank and High Rank! This area is safe from any monsters so you can fish all you want!

| Whetfish are small dark green fish with scale patterns. They look similar to Popfish but with the latter having no scale pattern. Its larger counterpart, the Great Whetfish, may also be present!

I to the second locale, the one that's really icy, and i defeated a lot of zamites, which are the small blue monsters with the sharp head plates, and i when i ended my expedition, i got a lot of fish, with a couple whetfish even though i didn't fish at all. Maybe killing zamites?
