Wandered inside the Mikawa Flower Festival
According to the story in the Akitsu Kimodameshi event quests, Yanagibashi Takuto is a samurai (swordsman) who wandered in the Mikawa Flower Festival organized by the youkai during the age of Hyakkiyakou.
Many youkai at the time were wary of his presence and wanted to drive him away until Lord Kamai, who was a prominent figure among the youkai invited him instead. Stating that it did not matter whether a human or youkai joins them in the festival.
What is the Hyakkiyakou?
It is something that was featured in Yae Miko's Story Quest, where the youkai would gather and celebrate. There are not many youkai in Teyvat, so that age has long passed.
Plays Akitsu Hazura with Lord Kamai
Afterward, Yanagibashi and Lord Kamai played an older form of the Akitsu Yuugei featured in the Akitsu Kimodameshi Event, the Akitsu Hazura (Haneasobi). This game was the main highlight of the festival and their game ended in a draw.
Duel Every Ten Years
After their game, the two settled down to drink sake, and that's when Yanagibashi revealed that he was a samurai traveling around in search of formidable opponents. Then, he was challenged by Kamai to duel every ten years.
They became best friends during those years. When they met again, Yanagibashi had grown strong and had reached the pinnacle of swordsmanship, he defeated Kamai in the duel by a narrow margin.
Kamai's Training and Yanagibashi Growing Older
Kamai gave up drinking after his defeat and focused on training, but he was not able to meet the Yanagibashi again due to a war in the south Yanagibashi had to participate in.
Ten years is a short time for a youkai as opposed to a human. Yanagibashi was 25 years old when they first met, and he was approximately 45 years old when he defeated Kamai. When they met again, Yanagibashi was already 65 years old.
Played Akitsu Hazura One Last Time
At 65 years old, Yanagibashi went to see Kamai to say goodbye. He was too weak to even fight, he was invited to join Kamai in one last game of Akitsu Hazura, but he was too weak to finish it. Kamai was saddened by this.
Founder of Souran Isshin Art
Yae Miko later revealed in The Currents of Life event quest, that Yanagibashi Takuto was the founder of the Souran Isshin Art, which seems to be a sword technique that he seemed to have developed from dueling with Kamai.
Fought Side by Side with a Descendant
Furthermore, Yae Miko said that Kamai befriended Yanagibashi's descendant, Tominaga Masanari, and they fought together until their final moments five hundred years ago. The sword that Tominaga used was passed down from Yanagibashi.
This way, Kaimai's regret was resolved.
