How to Unlock Lost in the Sands
Talk to Bonifaz in Aaru Village
Lost in the Sands unlocks after you talk to Bonifaz in Aaru Village. You can get to Aaru Village by going south of Caravan Ribat.
Lost in the Sands Quest Walkthrough
Follow the footprints and search for the archaeology team
After starting the quest from Bonifaz, follow the footprints on the road going from Aaru Village to Abdju Pit (previously Abdju Road). The archaeology team is on the newly revealed hole. This also enables access to the Red Desert Threshold domain.
Go to the bottom of the pit and look for clues

Drop down to Abdju Pit onto the campsite and talk to the Eremite, a Sumeru scholar, and Nachtigal sitting by the camp. Afterwards, talk to the fourth person in the distance by the ruins entrance. Jeht is an Eremite that looks like a Desert Clearwater.
Return to the campsite afterwards with Jeht.
Go to the area near the ruins together with Tirzad
Head to the entrance of the ruins again around where Jeht was earlier. After a cutscene, the ruins of Abdju Road will open.
Explore up ahead through the long corridor
Once it opens, head inside and activate the hidden teleport waypoint. Walk through the long corridor until you get to the other side.
Exploring the Ruins of Abdju Pit
The next step for players is to explore the ruins underneath Abdju Pit. This location involves winding paths, ruin puzzles, and secret items you can find underground. You will also get the Scarlet Sand Slate gadget that lets you interact with multiple aspects of the desert ruins!
Here's how to explore the ruins of Abdju Pit:

| 1 |  On the other side of the corridor, blow Anemo to the Cube Mechanism sunken in sand. |
| 2 |  Use the Cube Mechanism and enter the room, then defeat the Primal Construct with Jeht and Jebrael. The first Sacred Seal can also be obtained from here! |
| 3 |  Follow the seelie on the next room, then open the door with the Cube Mechanism. |
| 4 |  Continue following the seelie. Make sure to avoid the attacks shooting from the trap mechanisms! |
| 5 |  Inside the room past the seelie court, look for the Dendroculus floating at the far end of the room. |
| 6 |  The panel underneath the Dendroculus is an elevator. Stand on top of it then activate it to go down the room! |
| 7 |  Fire all the torches in the room to unlock the Cube Mechanism. The right fragmented torch can be revealed by shooting the Tri-Yana Seed with Electro. |
| 8 |  Interact the Cube Mechanism to open the next sets of doors. Follow the Seelie too, as it it'll guide you to the correct path! |
| 9 |  Continue forward until you battle some Fungi enemies. Afterwards, head right to the staircase going down. |
| 10 |  Go down the staircase and pick up the next Sacred Seal. Walking past this location will play another cutscene. |
| 11 |  Head up the small stairs and activate the elevator to go up the room. |
| 12 |  Go near the locked device. After Jeht's dialogue, check the Strange Machine beside it. |
| 13 |  Go back down the elevator and report your findings to Jebrael, Tirzad, and Jeht. You will also get the Scarlet Sand Slate gadget! |
| 14 |  Go up again the elevator and open the door with the newly unlocked blue book. |
| 15 |  The path ahead is linear. Simply follow the seelie and fend off the enemies and traps until you get to the next room. |
| 16 |  Obtain the Forged Primal Light (the floating upside down pyramid), and place it on the Replicator Keystone (right glowing panel). |
| 17 |  Relay the Primal Beam to the mechanism on the left to open the door. This one should automatically link to the mechanism! Get the third Sacred Seal in the next room afterwards. |
| 18 |  Obtain the two Forged Primal Lights this time and put it on the two panels. |
| 19 |  Rotate the cell at least two times until it links to the right mechanism. This should unlock the book. |
| 20 |  Interact the book to open the door. |
| 21 |  Defeat the Primal Constructs inside the next room. |
| 22 |  Open the door with the book that was unlocked by defeating the Primal Constructs. |
| 23 |  Exit the ruins. |

How to Continue Exploring the Ruins
Follow the direction of the wind to find the exit
Exit the cavern by heading to the southwestern path. Leave the pit through the exit to complete the quest!

This quest is the first sub-quest to complete the long Desert quest chain, under Golden Slumber. You'll need to complete all quests to unlock ruins and exploration abilities in the Desert area of Sumeru!
