Talk to Bonifaz in Aaru Village

Genshin - How to Unlock Lost in the Sands Map

To unlock the Golden Slumber, talk to Bonifaz in Aaru Village. You can get to the village from the Caravan Ribat, if you haven't gone there yet. He is located on the entrance of the village past the Statue of the Seven.

Note that this quest chain will take around 2 hours to complete and has 4 overall parts!

1 Lost in the Sands
• Follow the footprints from Aaru Village.
• Search for the archaeology team.
• Go to the bottom of the pit and look for clues
• Talk to the three people.
• Talk to the fourth person by the ruin entrance.
• Meet the others with Jeht.
• Go to the area near the ruins with Tirzad.
• Explore up ahead through the long corridor
• Explore the Ruins of Abdju Pit.
• Follow the direction of the wind to find the exit.
2 An Introduction to Indoor Archaeology
• Go to the Oasis.
• Head to the Khemenu Temple.
• Open the door leading deeper into the ruins
• Proceed to the furthest room on the lower floor.
• Open the door and activate the elevator using Primal Embers.
• Go down and examine the Mural.
3 The Secret of Al-Ahmar
• Enter the secret passage behind the mural.
• Go to King Deshret's Mausoleum.
• Defeat the Primal Constructs.
• Continue exploring to the main room.
• Obtain all four Primal Embers for the coffin.
• Find the way to the upper floor.
• Go to the highest floor of the Mausoleum.
• Find the members of the archaeological team.
• Defeat the Fatui.
• Proceed deeper within and find Benben.
• Go to the Fatui camp and Defeat Samail.
• Proceed deeper within the ruins.
• Investigate the room located deep within.
4 Dreams Beneath the Searing Sand.
• Return to the oasis
• Defeat the Eremites
• Talk to Nachtigal
• Go to the next oasis
• Talk to Jebrael
• Talk to Tirzad
• Go to Khaj-Nisut
• Search for Khaj-Nisut
• Go to the Eremites’ camp
• Talk to The Eremites
• Defeat the Eremites
• Talk to Jeht
• Search for clues in the Eremites’ camp
• Report back to Jebrael on the discovered clues
• Pass the three trials (0/3)
• Find the way to Khaj-Nisut
• Enter Khaj-Nisut
• Explore Khaj-Nisut’s lower floor
• Activate Plinth(s) of the Secret Rites
• Activate the mechanism in the center of the hall (0/3)
• Go to Khaj-Nisut's upper floor
• Operate Prism of Khaj-Nisut and try to reach Khaj-Nisut’s upper floor
• Defeat the opponents
• Go to the upper floor
• Continue exploring
• Approach the throne
• Defeat Samail’s subordinates
• Escape from Khaj-Nisut

Sumeru Desert Quest Chain

Genshin - Sumeru Desert Temple

Golden Slumber is the first archaeological world quest chain where you explore the ruins in the desert area of Sumeru. It will take around 2 hours to complete with tons of puzzles and combat along the way.

Players will need to complete this questline to get desert exploration abilities and the Scarlet Sand Slate gadget.
