Competitive Analysis

Nature Power is a unique move that changes depending on the environment it is used in.

Since Online Battles only happen in one standard location, Nature Power can only transform into five moves from five possible environments in battles which include all terrains and when there is none in the field.

Do note that these are all special moves, so a physical attacker will not see much use for Nature Power regardless of the environment.

Additionally, Nature Power as a Max Move is Max Guard and not a Max Move of any corresponding type. This is because it is a status move.

No Terrain in Field

Nature Power transforms into Tri Attack when there are no terrains set in battle. Among all moves Nature Power can change into, this is the weakest, but has the chance to either burn, paralyze, or freeze its target.

This is a great strategy if you want to inflict a status condition in your opponent.

Terrain in Field

Nature Power will transform into a move of the corresponding type depending on the terrain present in the field. All of these moves have a chance to lower a target's stat, directly or indirectly.

Grassy Terrain

When Grassy Terrain is present, Nature Power will tranform into Energy Ball and can lower a target's Special Defense.

Electric Terrain

When Electric Terrain is present, Nature Power will transform into Thunderbolt that may paralyze the target and halve their Speed. Majority of Pokemon that can learn Nature Power are Grass-type Pokemon, which makes this specific setup useful against Flying-type Pokemon.

Misty Terrain

When Misty Terrain is present, Nature Power will transform into Moonblast which can lower the target's Special Attack which can be annoying for opposing special attackers.

Psychic Terrain

When Psychic Terrain is present, Nature Power will transform into Psychic, which can lower a target's Special Defense.

Nature Power Locations

Nature Power is only available by Default, Level Up, or via Egg Move.
