Bounce

This build boosts Virizion's attack power by having it hold a Life Orb to make it a strong physical attacker. Virizion has high base special defense making it great against special attackers.

With its large pool of attacks to choose from, Virizion can hold its own against a variety of opponents.

Other Viable Moves

Sacred Sword Can be chosen over Close Combat. Deals damage to a target that ignores any defense or evasion stat changes.
Grassy Glide Alternate move in place of Leaf Blade. Has +1 priority in Grassy Terrain.
Zen Headbutt Good for dealing with Fighting types. Has a 20% chance of making its target flinch.
Smart Strike Ignores accuracy to always hit. When Dynamaxed, Max Steelspike can boost Virizion's defense.
Megahorn Counter for Grass and Psychic-type Pokemon.

Light Screen
Reflect

This build takes advantage of Virizion's high speed to make it into a walling Pokemon. Due to being able to learn both Light Screen and Reflect, Virizion can protect itself from the stat decreases that come with using Close Combat while buffing the rest of the party.

Other Viable Moves

Taunt Using its high speed Virizion can prevent opponents from buffing themselves.
Stone Edge Counter for Flying-types. Useful if you can predict when a Flying-type Pokemon will be swapped in to counter Virizion.

How to Use Virizion Effectively

Strong Against Special Attackers

With a whopping 129 special defense, Virizion is great for taking on special attack users, especially the likes of Wash Rotom or Hydreigon whose attacks deal half damage to it and its STAB attacks can strike their weaknesses.

Watch Out for Birds

As Virizion is dual Grass and Fighting-type, it takes 4 times damage from Flying-type moves. Even if Virizion takes a hit from a non-STAB Flying-type move, there is a chance it can go down, so be careful and act accordingly.

Counters for Virizion

Go After it With Flying-type Moves

Virizion's 4 times weakness to Flying-type attack is the best way to go. It has a pretty low physical defense as well, so physical fighters are recommended when taking on Virizion.
