Competitive Analysis

Misty Terrain has the effect of disabling moves that inflict status conditions and halves grounded Dragon-type moves. This can be useful against defensive or stall teams that rely on status conditions. Moves that rely on this include Misty Explosion which doubles in power when used but makes the user faint.

Misty Terrain has the same effect as Pokemon with the Misty Surge ability, thus it boils down to whether a move or ability will be used when setting up Misty Terrain.
