Thunderbolt is considered as the primary weapon among all Electric-type moves. This move has 100 accuracy, a chance to deal paralysis, and can be used as Max Lightning when the user is Dynamaxed or Gigantamaxed.
A common question encountered when choosing moves for Pokemon is which Electric-type attack should be used: Thunderbolt or Thunder?
The most striking difference between these two moves is the accuracy difference. Thunderbolt, the weaker move, will always hit its target while Thunder, the stronger move, depends on the active weather in play.
It is better to use Thunderbolt for general purposes as it does not need rain to guarantee the move will land. As for rain-centric teams, Thunder is the better choice to take advantage of the move having perfect accuracy in the rain.
Do take note that Thunder can be the better choice when choosing an Electric-type move for coverage, especially for Rock and Ground-type Pokemon, as long as it will only be used as Max Lightning during Dynamax.
List of Moves that Inflict Status Conditions
