What are Switching Moves

U-Turn.png

Switching moves are utility moves to get a Pokemon out of combat. These moves are often used to get a better match-up in the field.

Pokemon that used a move that switches the user out of combat will be replaced by a different Pokemon chosen by the user. Note that when you only have one Pokemon left, these moves will only do damage.

Switch Out Mechanics

Moves that force the opponent to switch out operate similarly but have slightly different mechanics.

In competitive battle, Pokemon affected by the moves Roar and Whirlwind will be replaced by a random Pokemon from the party.

On the other hand, Pokemon affected by the moves Circle Throw and Dragon Tail will be replaced by the next Pokemon in line on the Trainer's party.
