Release Pokemon
This guide will show you how to release a Pokemon in the game Pokemon Sword and Shield.

How to Release a Pokemon

Method 1: Via Rotomi in Pokemon Centers

1. Go to any Pokemon Center.

2. Go to the Rotomi.

3. Select Check Boxes.

4. Select the Pokemon you want to Release.

5. Choose Release from the choices.

6. A warning message will appear. If you are sure you want to release the Pokemon, select Yes.

7. A message will be given stating that the Pokemon has been released.

Method 2: Via Pokemon Box Link

1. Go to the menu by pressing X in the controls.

2. Select the Pokemon Tab.

3. Go to the Boxes tab by pressing R on the controls

4. Select the Pokemon you want to Release.

5. Choose Release from the choices.

6. A warning message will appear. If you are sure you want to release the Pokemon, select Yes.

7. A message will be given stating that the Pokemon has been released.

Notes

  • Once you have released a Pokemon you cannot ever get it back. Be absolutely sure that you wish to send a Pokemon away before carrying this action out.
  • Releasing Pokemon is good when your storage box is full and you want to capture or breed more Pokemon. Keep in mind that there are a maximum of 32 storage boxes available, as more boxes will open up once the initial 8 boxes each contain Pokemon.
