Max Guard's PP copies that of its Base Move.

Pokemon That Learn Max Guard

Max Guard is usable by all Dynamax or Gigantamax Pokemon who know at least one status move. That move will be replaced with Max Guard while the Pokemon is Dynamaxed.

Competitive Analysis

Max Guard is basically Protect while a Pokemon is Dynamaxed or Gigantamaxed. It protects the user from almost all moves on the turn it is used. This includes Max Moves.

Repeated use of Max Guard is still not recommended as the move will still more likely to fail if used in succession.

Watch out as both of Urshifu's G-Max Moves G-Max Rapid Flow and G-Max One Blow will ignore Max Guard and do full damage.

Max Guard Locations

Max Guard is only available when using status moves when Dynamaxed or Gigantamaxed.
