Moves that Cause Rain

In rain weather, water-type moves are increased by 50% while fire-type moves are decreased by 50%. This also changes the move Weather Ball into a water-type move and doubles its power.

Move Type Effect
Max Geyser Pokemon Water Image This is a Water-type attack Dynamax Pokémon use. The user summons a heavy rain that falls for five turns.
Rain Dance Pokemon Water Image The user summons a heavy rain that falls for five turns, powering up Water-type moves. It lowers the power of Fire-type moves.

Moves that Cause Hail

In hail, non-Ice type Pokemon are damaged by 1/16th of their maximum HP per turn. This also changes the move Weather Ball into an ice-type move and doubles its power.

Move Type Effect
Hail Pokemon Ice Image The user summons a hailstorm lasting five turns. It damages all Pokémon except Ice types.
Max Hailstorm Pokemon Ice Image This is an Ice-type attack Dynamax Pokémon use. The user summons a hailstorm lasting five turns.

Moves that Cause Harsh Sunlight

In harsh sunlight, fire-type moves are increased by 50% while water-type moves are decreased by 50%. This also changes the move Weather Ball into a fire-type move and doubles its power.

Move Type Effect
Max Flare Pokemon Fire Image This is a Fire-type attack Dynamax Pokémon use. The user intensifies the sun for five turns.
Sunny Day Pokemon Fire Image The user intensifies the sun for five turns, powering up Fire-type moves. It lowers the power of Water-type moves.

Moves that Cause Sandstorm

In sandstorm weather, all non-rock, ground, or steel type Pokemon are damaged each turn. The Special defense stat of rock-type Pokemon is increased by 50%. This also changes the move Weather Ball into a rock-type move and doubles its power.

Max Rockfall Pokemon Rock Image This is a Rock-type attack Dynamax Pokémon use. The user summons a sandstorm lasting five turns.
Sandstorm Pokemon Rock Image A five-turn sandstorm is summoned to hurt all combatants except the Rock, Ground, and Steel types. It raises the Sp. Def stat of Rock types.

Weather Items

While weather effects usually last for five turns, the following items affect the duration and effects of weather:

Item Effect
Damp RockDamp Rock An item to be held by a Pokemon. It extends the duration of the move Rain Dance when used by the holder.
Icy RockIcy Rock An item to be held by a Pokemon. It extends the duration of the move Hail when used by the holder.
Heat RockHeat Rock An item to be held by a Pokemon. It extends the duration of the move Sunny Day when used by the holder.
Smooth RockSmooth Rock An item to be held by a Pokemon. It extends the duration of the move Sandstorm when used by the holder.
Utility UmbrellaUtility Umbrella An item to be held by a Pokémon. This sturdy umbrella protects the holder from the effects of weather.
