See how to clear and destroy The Withering Zones and how to stop Decay in Genshin Impact here! The Withering is a zone in Sumeru that you have to try and clean clean up to remove HP and Resistance debuffs for characters.
List of Contents
The Withering is a phenomenon which corrodes an area with desolation and decay in the Sumeru region. It occurs on areas where there is a tumor, which you must destroy to cleanse its corrosive power.
You can find these zones with the Seed Mirror. Using the mirror locates Withering Zones that have yet to take shape.
Clearing Withering Zones Step-by-Step |

Summon Dendrograna Destroy the Withering Branches Defeat the Disciple of Decay Destroy the Tumor of the Withering
|
Interacting with an Auspicious Branch summons three Dendrograna that will follow you around and will disappear after a short while or when they're launched. Each Withering Zone have Auspicious Branches around it, so check where each of them are placed first before going in!
Some Withering Zones also have Fetid Boughs around them that will continuously shoot Decay projectiles at you and make it difficult to focus on your objectives. Find them first and destroy them with Dendrograna before targeting the Branches!
Armed with Dendrograna, use a Charged Attack or an Aimed Shot at the Withering Branches to destroy them. Take note that you can only have a maximum of three Dendrograna at a time, so after launching all three at a Withering Branch or an enemy, you will need to get more from an Auspicious Branch.
If you're having trouble finding the Withering Branches, you can check the Tumor of the Withering and look for "red links" coming from it. These will point you towards the Withering Branches that you need to destroy.
Be ready to dodge after landing a Dendrogranum at a Withering Branch as it will launch three Wither bolts at your position that deal damage and inflict Decay!
After destroying all three Branches, the Tumor will spawn a Disciple of Decay, a powerful enemy enhanced with the Withering's effect. Make use of Dendro attacks or the Dendrogranum to take them out quickly.
Defeating the Disciple of Decay will finally make the Tumor of the Withering defenseless. Approach the Tumor and interact with it to clear the Withering Zone!
Most of the Withering Zones are found in the overworld but some are found in underground areas that can only be accessed through a tunnel near the zone! These hidden entrances usually involve doing Quests and solving puzzles.
All party members inside The Withering Zones accumulate a status ailment called "Decay. " Debuffed characters will receive reduced Elemental and Physical RES, and decreased Max HP.
Characters who stay too long or accumulates too much Withering may be downed. You can keep track of your current Decay levels by checking the bar on your HUD. This is similar to The Chasm's Dark Mud and Lumenstone Adjuvant!
Candles and Flames of Life are green eneriges that help decrease Decay accumulation. Simply go to these protective areas to avoid the debuffs.
Cleansing out the zone itself will also stop its effects, so find and clear the root of the problem!
