The Great Red Sand Information

A Subregion of the Sumeru Desert

The Great Red Sand is situated in the west of Sumeru where its vast desert expanse is located. This subregion is comprised of the Land of the Lower and Upper Setekh and the Hypostyle Desert.

Land of the Lower Setekh

The Land of the Lower Setekh is the more habitable area of the Great Red Sand, considering its proximity with Caravan Ribat and the only village settlement in the desert, that is the Aaru Village.

And although the village still experiences frequent sandstorms, the weather conditions in the Land of the Lower Setekh do not seem to be as harsh as with other areas in The Great Red Sand, or even in the Desert of Hadramaveth with its iconic desert devil.

Land of Upper Setekh

Home to one of the gigantic Ruin Golems Sumeru, the Land of Upper Setekh is where the Valley of Dahri is located. "Dahri" is what the scholars of Vahumana Darshan refers to as the citizens of "Khaen'riah", the nation that fell down during the Cataclysm 500 years ago.

The Land of Upper Setekh holds historical significance that shows Sumeru's deep connection with Khaen'riah, evident with the two Ruin Golems in both its Rainforest and Desert, and with the involvement of King Deshret himself with the Forbidden Knowledge.

Hypostyle Desert

Located in the farther west of the Sumeru Desert, this large patch of land once cradled the lost civilization of the Scarlet King, King Deshret. Hypostyle Desert is now home to three identical ruins, namely the Dune of Carouses, Dune of Magma, and Dune of Elusion, the Khemenu Temple, and the Mausoleum of King Deshret.
