Competitive Analysis

Hail sets up the Hailing weather condition on the battle field. This works well with moves such as Aurora Veil in defending your team from physical and special attacks while Blizzard is assured of 100% accuracy during this weather.

Moreover, this is to the detriment of non-Ice type Pokemon will receive damage every turn during this weather.

While this lasts for 5 turns, you can use the held item Icy Rock in extending this for 8 turns instead.

Hail and Abilities

Pokemon with the Ice Body Ability will receive HP every turn, while the ones with the Slush Rush Ability will have their speed doubled during a hailstorm.
