Where His Life Lies is located at Court of Fontaine, in the nation of Fontaine. Use the Teleport Waypoint nearby the Vasari Passage, and head straight inside the Waterway Hub. Lutong and Garcia should be standing by the Information Booth!

To unlock Where His Life Lies, you must have first completed Garcia's Paean: A Gift of Compatibility quest in Sumeru. You can check in the Sumeru Reputation Board if you have already unlocked the quest by talking to Effendi!

Garcia and Lutong Not in the Waterway Hub?

Some players have reported that even after completing Garcia's Paean: A Gift of Compatibility, the marker for this quest doesn't appear in the supposed location.

We suggest getting the Principia Arithmetica Achievement first, which requires you to complete the Sumeru Daily Commission, Garcia's Paean: Echo of Someone, three times. Then, wait for a server reset, and Garcia should appear in Fontaine!

Alternatively, there are other players who have also reported that doing the Daily Commissions, Garcia's Paean: Subsititutes or Garcia's Paean: Key Items twice, then waiting for a server reset triggered the quest for them!

Where His Life Lies Walkthrough

Go to the Opera Epiclese

After talking to Garcia and Lutong in the Waterway Hub in the Court of Fontaine, go to the Opera Epiclese to accompany the duo settle the accounts of the performing troupes in Opera Epiclese.

Go to a more secluded place with Lutong

As soon as you've arrived near the Fountain of Lucine, Lutong spots Garcia's love interest, Kaia, who then joins the group. After listening to them briefly, Garcia and Kaia goes to a cafe to reunite, while you go to a more secluded place with Lutong, to discuss their current dilemma.

Go to the café with Lutong

After learning about the fishy encounter of Garcia with the man, go to the cafe with Lutong back in the Court of Fontaine. Use the Teleport Waypoint near Hotel Debord to easily access the location!

Look for Menthe

At the cafe, Lutong immediately recognizes the man who keeps on tailing him and Garcia. At his behest, look for Menthe, who's fortunately located just a couple of steps away from the cafe.

Meet up with Garcia's group

Then, meet up with Garcia's group in front of the cafe. The Fontainian inventor then says the man hurriedly ran away after seeing the Menthe and the Traveler.

Garcia, Lutong, and Kaia, then decides to head over to Petrichor to become more safe, and steer clear from danger.
