Competitive Analysis

Magnet Rise makes the user levitate off the ground for five turns, giving it characteristics similar to Pokemon with the Levitate Ability and Flying-type Pokemon.

Magnet Rise and Grounding

This move is useful for Electric-types as it makes them immune from super-effective Ground-type attacks and entry hazards such as Toxic Spikes.

It is also worth mentioning that any Baton Pass users are able to pass Magnet Rise!

However, it also comes with a few disadvantages. For Electric-type Pokemon, this move will lift them off the ground and will stop being affected by Electric Terrain, if it is present in the field. This makes them lose the damage boost from the terrain and makes them vulnerable to sleep-inducing moves such has Yawn.

Getting hit by Smack Down will also remove the effects of Magnet Rise and the target will be sent back to the ground.

Magnet Rise Locations

Magnet Rise is only available by Default, Level Up, or via Egg Move.
