Scald Competitive Analysis

Scald is one of the best moves in general regardless of types. This move offers versatility as a primary STAB move for Water-type Pokemon as well as coverage for non-Water Pokemon. The base 80 power and 100 accuracy makes this a reliable option on any Pokemon that can learn it.

However, the 30% chance to burn the target is what separates Scald from the rest. Not only does burn deal continuous damage, but it also lowers the power of physical attacks.
