Competitive Analysis

Roar is a sound-based Normal-type move that forces the target to be switched back to its Trainer's party, with a random Pokemon in the team replacing it.

Roar is a great move to waste an opponent's stat boosts by forcing it to be switched out. It is also an effective way of poisoning a random opponent via Toxic Spikes.

It is worth mentioning that this move has -1 priority so it will be used last among all other moves in a single turn. Additionally, Roar cannot be used for two turns if the user was hit with Throat Chop
