Competitive Analysis

Psybeam is a special Psychic-type move that has a chance to make its target confused.

For general use Psychic, Extrasensory and other stronger moves are more preferred over Psybeam.

Psychic Moves that Disrupt

Psybeam, Confusion, and Extrasensory are Psychic-type moves that are able to confuse or flinch your opponent.

It is definitely recommended to choose Psybeam over Confusion as this move is more powerful and can cause essentially the same thing.

Psybeam vs Confuse Ray

Psybeam and Confuse Ray can fit the role of moves that can confuse your opponent, but it should be noted that one move will not affect a certain type.

Dark-type Pokemon are immune to Psychic-type moves, while Normal-type Pokemon cannot be affected by Ghost-type moves.

Additionally, Psybeam can only inflict confusion by chance but will damage its target, while Confuse Ray is guaranteed to cause confusion but will deal no damage.

Psybeam Locations

This move can only be learned by Default, Level Up, or via Egg Move.
