The Quicksand Unagi is a yellow eel with orange eyes found on the sands of the Sumeru's desert and on the Desert of Hadramaveth.

There are Quicksand Unagi found on the desert surface such as the ones to the northeast of Aaru Village, while others can be found underground in ruins.

A slender amphibian fish that usually lives in the desert. In order to adapt to the high temperatures and lack of water, they have not only taken on a fairly unique shape, but their reproductive methods have also changed.
Though the researchers of the Akademiya firmly deny this, the desert folk believe that the giant life forms within the sands are the mature and complete forms of these creatures following pupation.

Land of Upper Setekh - Valley of Dahri - East of Statue of the Seven - north of the small lake on the map. Use the Four-Leaf Sigil to quick travel to cliff and you'll find two Quicksand Unagi. I found no correlation to time of day. It was there around the clock.
