Twisted Extension Quest Guide

Twisted Extension Quest Location

Canyon of Dark Currents

Twisted Extension is located at the Canyon of Dark Currents in Ochkanatlan. However, since the unlock requirement for this quest is located on five different places, you'll have to visit five areas first before triggering the quest in the canyon!

Tenebrous Mimiflora Locations

To officially trigger Twisted Extension, you must have first defeated all the the Tenebrous Mimiflora on five different locations around Ochkanatlan, and should have read Quenin's Diary.

Tenebrous Mimiflora Location Overview

The Tenebrous Mimiflora enemies required for Twisted Extension are in five areas: one on the southwest of Ochkanatlan, two on the Cradle of Fleeting Dreams, one just outside the Vision Serpent's Sanctum, and the last one being on the southeastern portion of the area. The map indicated above are marked with their initial locations, and can be completed in any order!

Southwest of Ochkanatlan Mimiflora

The Tenebrous Mimiflora on the southwest of Ochkanatlan is found inside a gated room which can be opened by using a switch. The switch outside is actually a Tenebrous Mimiflora, which effectively opens the gate when defeated, however the correct Mimiflora enemy is the one inside the room, disguised as an Exquisite Chest!

Cradle of Fleeting Dreams Mimiflora #1

The first Tenebrous Mimiflora near the Cradle of Fleeting Dreams is located just below the Cradle Waypoint. Simply jump down from the cliff edge, and prepare to land once you get past the broken concrete bridge. It's an extremely long drop, so make sure that you don't hit the bridge as you go down, or else your character may die!

The Tenebrous Mimiflora in this location is disguised as a half-buried, upside-down body, so simply touch it to start the fight!

Cradle of Fleeting Dreams Mimiflora # 2

There are two ways to get to the second Mimiflora in Cradle of Fleeting Dreams; one by accessing it from the #1's location, or you can simply use the other Cradle Waypoint, located just above the first Waypoint. As with the first one, just jump down, and prepare to land once you see Mimiflora disguised as an Exquisite Chest.

There are a bunch of dead Hilichurl enemies lying all around the mimic chest, which should indicate that you're in the correct location.

Vision Serpent's Sanctum Mimiflora

The Tenebrous Mimiflora is outside of the Vision Serpent's Sanctum is easily accessible using the same Cradle Waypoint used in the #2 Mimiflora in Cradle of Fleeting Dreams. However, instead of jumping down, head straight to the Sanctum's location, just past the dormant Ruin Guard enemy, and fight the Mimiflora disguised as a Secret Source Automaton!

Southeast of Ochkanatlan Mimiflora

To get to the Mimiflora enemy on the southeast portion of Ochkanatlan, simply use the Teleport Waypoint atop one of the tall islands, and glide down towards the adjacent island until you see the two Ruin Guard enemies. One of them is a Tenebrous Mimiflora mimic, while the other one is an actual Ruin Guard.

How to Unlock Twisted Extension

Complete the Prerequisites

You can unlock Twisted Extension after completing the Lost Traveler in the Ashen Realm, as most of the areas where the Tenebrous Mimiflora enemies are located are locked behind the quest chain!

Defeat the Mimiflora Enemies

To unlock Twisted Extension, you must have also defeated all five Tenebrous Mimiflora located all around Ochkanatlan. These five Mimiflora enemies will mimic Quenin's compatriots, causing him to help you in the battle. This is also a surefire way that you're fighting the correct enemies to trigger the quest!

Twisted Extension Walkthrough

Explore the bottom of the waterfall

After defeating all the Tenebrous Mimifloras, immediately teleport to the Canyon of Dark Currents using its dedicated Waypoint. If you haven't unlocked this yet, this waypoint is located a couple of steps away from the Core of Chu'ulel, a cavern you first encounted while Clearing Out the Abyssal Corruption during the Palace of the Vision Serpent quest.

From the Waypoint, glide towards the small camp across you, and read Quenin's Diary. The quest should start officially afterwards, so explore the bottom of the waterfall

Smash the strange stone

Down at the bottom, smash the strange stone using a Claymore attack. Doing so reveals the preserved, yet dead body of Quenin. Investigate the body by interacting on it, and wait until a voice interrupt you.

Defeat the entity that looks like Quenin

The source of the voice is from a Tenebrous Mimiflora disguised as Quenin himself. Defeat the entity that looks like Quenin, to release his identity from the grapple of the abyss monster to conclude the quest!

Another Quenin from a Different Quest

If you've already completed The Lone Isle Named Night quest, you may have already encountered what seems to be another copy of Quenin guarding a Saurian egg. It's unsure yet why most Tenebrous Mimiflora are mimicking Quenin, but what do you think? Let us know in the comments!
