How to Unlock Special Friends

Complete the Prerequisites

	Quest: #1 Lost in the Woods

Special Friends is a new world quest added in Version 5.0 and is available immediately after unlocking the Natlan region.

Find the Yumkasaur and Alpaca Near the Statue of the Seven

Special Friends can be started by interacting with the Yumkasaur and Alpaca on a hill next to the Statue of the Seven in the Scions of the Canopy.

You can reach the top of the hill faster using the Yumkasaur Spiritsconce in front of the statue and using the Yumkasaur's grappling ability.

Special Friends Walkthrough

Calm the Yumkasaurus Down

The Yumkasaurus you just approached will get agitated and attack you. After calming it down through a quick battle, you will meet Wactana and learn that the Yumkasaurus was actually trying to protect the Alpaca.

Try Talking to the Alpacas

Take the Little Tepetlisaur with you and introduce him to the Alpacas nearby. There's the Energetic Alpaca from earlier, the Dopey Alpaca, and the Greedy Alpaca.

See What Your Saurian Buddy Has Found

It seems none of them wants to be friends with our Little Tepetlisaur. That's too bad. Oh, looks like our little friend found something! Check the north edge of the hill and look down to find a stranded Alpaca with a hat.

Use the Wooden Planks to Save the Scaredy-Cat Alpaca

Pick up the painted wooden planks on the side and place it on the edge where the stranded Alpaca is. This will allow the Alpaca to climb back up and make friends with the Tepetlisaur!

Report Back to Wactana

Find Wactana under the hut and inform her about the Alpaca that you found. After the conversation, she will let you have the Alpaca Toy beside her as part of the rewards for completing the quest!
