Lies and Promises is a new world quest added in Version 5.0 and is available immediately after unlocking the Natlan region.

Find the Strange Yumkasaurus in Coatepec Mountain

The Lies and Promises quest can be started by talking to the strange Yumkasaurus in Coatepec Mountain. The Coatepec Mountain is located beneath Teticpac Peak.

The strange Yumkasaurus can also be seen guarding a Luxurious Chest behind it.

Find a way to communicate with the Yumkasaurus

Talking to the strange Yumkasaurus will tell you that it is in need of help, but you can't understand what it's saying. You can communicate with it by finding and indwelling with another Yumkasaurus around the area.

You can find other Yumkasaurus near the waypoint in Coatepec Mountain.

Feed the Yumkasaurus

After successfully finding and indwelling another Yumkasaurus, talk to the strange one and try to feed it. We recommend feeding it raw meat because that's what Saurians usually eat.

Note that from this point of the quest, you need to indwell with a Yumkasaurus to continue talking to the strange one.

Try talking to the Yumkasaurus

You can try talking to the Yumkasaurus after you offer it some food, but it will take a nap soon after. You and Paimon will discuss how to communicate with it afterwards.

Get your Saurian companion to take away the treasure chest

Talk to your Saurian companion afterwards so it can burrow into the ground and get the treasure chest behind the sleeping Yumkasaurus. The treasure chest contains a note from the Yumkasaurus' previous owner.

You and Paimon later report the situation of the strange Yumkasaurus to Wayna, Chief of Scions of the Canopy. He then tells you more about its previous owner.
