You can do a Charged Attack by holding down your Main Attack button in Genshin Impact. See how to perform a Charged Attack, its costs and benefits, and more information about it here!
List of Contents
Charged Attacks are more powerful and, at times, stronger variants of a character's Normal Attacks. Under normal circumstances, all characters are able to perform a Charged Attack.
They enable the character to overwhelm the opponent with rapid damage, enhance their Normal Attacks with a stronger punch, reposition whilst piercing through opponents, or even enter a special mode.
For most characters, holding down your Main Attack Button should be enough to get them to perform a Charged Attack.
The effects and stamina costs for Charged Attacks vary per weapon type.
Sword characters often have fixed flourishes and combos that consume stamina at a fixed rate, setting them up for one big damage-dealing attack, or two to three swift strikes.
The exception to this is Furina, who uses her Charged Attack to change between Pneuma and Ousia forms instead.
Most polearm characters usually have some form of piercing dash on their Charged Attacks, allowing them to reposition whilst dealing damage, with a few characters such as Xiao and Arlecchino being exceptions to this.
Meanwhile, a character like Hu Tao has most of their rotations come from this Charged Dash, with her being able to power-up her dash to have no wind-up time, allowing for faster execution.

Claymore characters have a continuous spinning or consecutive slash attack that continues until they run out of stamina.
This can be cancelled or sustained any time by the player as long as they have stamina.

Catalysts have a stronger variant or version of their own Normal Attacks, and are usually used within their combos to put out extra damage.
One of the few exceptions to this is Neuvillette, which has his entire kit revolve around using his Charged Attacks, and Heizou and Wriothesley, who function as melee Catalyst units.

Bow characters are a special case, however, as holding down the Charged Attack button puts them into Free Aim mode, allowing them to aim their character's shots for more precise damage.
Bow characters are unique in this regard as they do not consume stamina when entering or firing in Aimed Shot mode, allowing them to freely utilize their Charged Aimed Shots without any Stamina hits.
