Thorny Cyst is a mini boss found beneath the Mont Esus East in Genshin Impact Version 4.1. See how to destroy the Thorny Cyst, as well as how to get to its location, rewards, and achievement!
List of Contents
Dive beneath the surface of Mont Esus East near the waterfalls to locate a hole adjacent to an underwater Mek. Simply follow the tunnel until you reach a wall with Mini Meanies.
To destroy the wall, absorb the Xenochromatic Jellyfish's ability and launch it towards the wall.
The Xenochromatic Jellyfish Ability will be your primary way of dealing with the Thorny Cyst, so make sure to absorb one before confronting it.
You'll find one when you enter the Thorny Cyst lair, but it's rather far away, so it's best to absorb the one in the tunnel before approaching the lair.
When you enter the Thorny Cyst lair, your HP will begin to deplete over time, so keep an eye on it. There will be Recovery Orbs scattered throughout the lair, so make yourself aware of where they are so you can easily find them.
Characters such as Lynette can track the location of Recovery Orbs and display it on your mini-map, which is highly useful in this fight.
Blast the glowing roots using the Xenochromatic Jellyfish Ability to remove them.
At the start of the encounter, the Thorny Cyst will summon about ten thorns, each with its own root that you must remove. Keep an eye out for the glowing roots since those are the ones you can destroy; each round will have a different set of glowing roots.
If you failed to remove the glowing roots straight away in the last round after practically all of them have been destroyed, they will change place.
After dealing with the glowing roots, you may now deal with the Cyst itself, which is similar to dealing with the glowing roots in that you just blast it with the Xenochromatic Jellyfish Ability.
You can only damage the Cyst so many times before it becomes invulnerable, prompting you to deal with the roots again. This method will be repeated until the Thorny Cyst is destroyed.
Fontemer Aberrants will appear in each round. It is not recommended to deal with them because it may take longer, which is undesirable because your HP will continue to decrease over time.
You can easily avoid them because they only spray water bubbles at you, which most of the time do not hit.
When you destroy the Thorny Cyst, you will receive a Luxurious Chest and one of the seven Mysterious Ore.
Mysterious Ore are ores that can be converted into Arkhium Stocks and used to unlock Bravais' Secret Study. More information can be found in the guide below.
