You can find the Chess Pieces inside Exquisite Chests in the underground ruins of the Hadramaveth Desert. These locations are accessible upon playing though specific The Dirge of Bilqis and Tadhla's Falcon quests.
This piece's location is unlocked during the Dune-Entombed Fecundity Part 1 quest. Defeating the Consecrated Scorpion during the quest unlocks the switch, and activating that switch spawns an chest, which contains the chess piece!
If you were unable to open the chest, you can return here from either from the same underground entrance, or from the waypoint nearby.
Dune-Entombed Fecundity: Part I Guide
This piece's location is unlocked during the Dune-Entombed Fecundity Part 2 quest. After reaching the underground waypoint in The Sands of Three Canals, opening the ancient gate reveals the ruins and a chest containing the chess piece!
If you've already unlocked the underground waypoint, simply teleporting and heading up the slope leads you to the area!
Dune-Entombed Fecundity: Part II Guide
This piece's location is unlocked during the Dune-Entombed Fecundity Part 3 quest. Upon descending down the Ruin Golem's tunnels, opening the gate to the ruins reveals another chest which contains the Khaj-Nisut piece!
The entrance to the cave is from the Ruin Golem's left arm, when it finally settles to Wounded Shin Valley during the quest.

Upon obtaining Liloupar's fragment during The Falcon's Hunt quest, a chest will appear, which contains the Temple of Gurabad chess piece.
The Falcon's Hunt is the second quest for the Tadhla the Falcon quest series, which unlocks on server reset after you complete The Dirge of Bilqis.

The last chess piece is located back in Liloupar's Cell. Some time after the quest, return to the location where you first met the Jinni and an Exquisite Chest should be found underneath the trunk.
The entrance to Liloupar's Cell is from the ruins in Safhe Shatranj.
Chess Pieces are used to fill-in the chessboard area in Safhe Shatranj. After completing the first puzzle of the second quest in The Dirge of Bilqis Quest Chain, the sands in the Temples Forsaken will recede into the Safhe Shatranj, which reveals the chessboard-like area!
The Temple Where Sand Flows Like Tears
The chess board represent the map of notable Desert areas, so in each panel or empty box a specific chess piece that matches the ruin's locations is placed!
The chess board has empty boxes and once you interact with it, it will tell you what type of chess piece should be there.
Upon placing all five chess pieces in the chessboard, you will unlock the Apocalypse Lost quest, which further expands the playing field!

After placing a chess piece, you must then look for an Activation Device specific for that chess piece to activate it. Installing the device enables you to teleport to the location it relates to. This area will then act as a teleportation hub!
Chess Activation Device Locations
Once you've collected all 5 Chess Pieces and the 7 Activation Device, you'd be able solve the Safhe Shatranj Chess Puzzle and enable the teleport function of each chess piece. An individual chess piece corresponds to a certain location within the Sumeru Desert!

maybe it's the last piece, the biggest pyramid with eye on it (that's not the mausoleum). i suspect that is the upcoming map and they're hinting about it. the place where king deshret actually belong because the mausoleum literally just his grave.
