Recently, the kids wanted to have a go at the Test of Courage but were too afraid of the dark. So I went into the woods and caught some fireflies to make small night tamps for them.

As I watched the fireflies twinkle and shine, it felt tike I was holding stars in the palm of my hand.

And that gave me a most brilliant idea! I wanted to create star-shaped fireworks that could be held! Hehe, and after days of trying, I finally succeeded!

I've raised them to be huge and powerful, and now, during this annual celebration of the birth of the one and only King Arataki, I'm giving 'em all to you! How stoked are you?

Oh, but that's not all! There's Seagrass from Shimura's, and Naku Weed from Tsukumomono Groceries too. I brought the gang down and worked for them for three whole days to score this haul. I have heard that "birthdays" are considered to be symbolic of joy, and that something special must be done for the occasion. Yet every time I thought of this date, sad memories would begin to surface in my mind. With such a heavy heart, I was painfully aware how difficult it would be to ever partake in any sort of festive atmosphere.

But this year, I have come to a decision. I shall go out for a walk. I have prepared a small table at an especially scenic spot on Mt. Yougou, and would like to invite you to enjoy the sea views and sakura together. If sitting together proves too monotonous, we can eat some dango, and go for a stroll in places that we rarely get a chance to visit otherwise.

I want to hear the wishes of the people of Inazuma with my own ears, and engrave the scenery of Inazuma into my memory with my own eyes. That shall be my wish.

So, under the auspices of the Yae Publishing House, I've organized a short light novel writing competition. Whoever can write the most engrossing and exciting short light novel on the spot and within the time limit will receive a publishing contract for their work, right then and there!

Naturally, this task is even more taxing for the judges themselves, and so their table will need to be piled high with the best Fried Tofu and cool drinks, and of course an unlimited stream of snacks.

Hahahahahahahaha! Thank goodness I came up with a brilliant idea this year and found this secluded island where I stayed for a couple of days to stay away from the crowds. And guess what? This year, I'm not spending my birthday in prison! Hahaha!

On the other hand, spending days arm wrestling against Pale Red Crabs with a branch brought no joy... But now, the time's finally come. We celebrate, big time!

Yes, yes, location first. How about the rooftop of Tenshukaku, yeah? The place's high up with spectacular views and looks majestic. I would look great there. A real man like myself should have his birthday celebrated on top of Tenshukaku!

What about the celebration then? If it's not super-duper mega ultra awesome, it has to at least be mega ultra awesome!

Fireworks? Nah, too much hassle. Beetle fights or card games? I'd win for sure... but I don't want anyone to lose today!
