How to Beat Ruin Defenders

Use Shield Characters!

Ruin Sentinels are usually grouped in twos or more, making it harder to dodge all their attacks. Having a shield would make defeating these monsters easier, although it is not as necessary when facing a lone Ruin Sentinel.

Hitting its weakpoint will also knock it down for some time, making it vulnerable.

Beware of its Laser Attacks

Ruin Defenders tend to shoot lasers from the center of its body.

This is characterized by the mechanical parts of its body grouping together close to its main body. Much like a Ruin Guard's Missile Attack, you can dodge this by moving at the last second.

Dodge its Jumping Attacks

The Ruin Defender will jump in the air and land on the ground, dealing damage within a small AoE. It's landing is marked by a bright red circle that you must avoid.

Avoid its Pouncing Attacks

It's Pouncing Attack is preceded by the Ruin Defender raising its two front legs. It cannot move from its position until it has landed its attack, so it's best to dodge at this phase.

The Ruin Defender's Shield

Ruin Defenders can sometimes put up a shield in front of them. Attacking this shield will not result in any damage. You will have to go behind the Ruin Defender's shield to continue dealing damage.

Ruin Defenders may still shoot its laser while holding up a shield, so watch out for its main body changing shape.
