Nightsoul's Blessing and Nightsoul Burst are Natlan mechanics in Genshin Impact 5.0 that affect the team when Natlan characters and items are present. Learn what Nightsoul's Blessing and Burst do, how Nightsoul Points work, and how to use them in this guide!
List of Contents
Nightsoul's Blessing is a combat mechanic for Natlan characters that function similarly to their Stamina bar, often serving as the duration for their Elemental Skill.
This is visualized as a stylized bar that appears on the side of characters when using certain skills, such as Mualani's Sharky and Kachina's Turbo Twirly when summoned using their Elemental Skills.
As of Version 5.0, Natlan characters like Kachina and Mualani do not have set durations for their Elemental Skills and instead rely on Nightsoul's Blessing as the fuel for their Elemental Skill.
When they run out of Nightsoul Points and Phlogiston, their Nightsoul's Blessing state and Elemental Skill will end and go on cooldown.
In most cases, when Natlan characters run out of Nightsoul Points but still have Phologiston left, they will switch to consuming Phlogiston to maintain their Nightsoul's Blessing state.
Nightsoul's Blessing can also be replenished by certain character mechanics such as Mualani's puffers whenever she picks them up on the field.
The Natlan characters added in Version 5.0 both have innate Nightsoul Point recovery in their Elemental Skills. This could possibly mean that, even for future Natlan characters, using Elemental Skills is the most convenient way to regain the Nightsoul's Blessing state.
In certain areas in Natlan, you can switch to a Natlan character while in certain movement modes, such as swimming or climbing, to execute a Nightsoul Transmission.
This allows them to use their exploration skills (which is usually also their Elemental Skill), right after switching to help you explore! The character's name will light up in gold when they can trigger a Nightsoul Transmission.
Nightsoul Burst on the other hand is an effect that Natlan characters can trigger when dealing elemental damage on set intervals.
This effect is represented by stylized impact lines that pop up on screen when Natlan characters trigger it.
When your party contains a Natlan Character, any elemental damage to an opponent can trigger Nightsoul Burst. The buff effect of the Nightsoul Burst varies depending on the Natlan character.
Certain artifacts, weapons, and character skills can also be affected by triggering the Nightsoul's Blessing state and Nightsoul Burst.
On its own, Nightsoul Burst does nothing, and is just the trigger for certain effects of Natlan characters, weapons, and artifacts that incorporate Nightsoul Burst into their mechanics.
You can trigger Nightsoul Bursts more frequently by adding more Natlan characters to your team. The cooldown for each Nightsoul Burst will be 18/12/9s if you have 1/2/3 or more Natlan characters in your team, respectively.
Natlan Characters | ||
---|---|---|
Kinich | Mualani | Kachina |
Citlali | Chasca | Ororon |
Mavuika | Iansan | Xilonen |
Nightsoul's Blessing state can only be triggered by Natlan characters. This means you have to either be using a Natlan character or have one be part of your current party to use Nightsoul's Blessing.
Character | Nightsoul Burst |
---|---|
Mualani | Mualani's Elemental Skill allows her to ride her Sharky Surfboard that functions off of Nightsoul's Blessing and Phlogiston to maintain its uptime. |
Kachina | Kachina's Turbo Twirly is also maintained by Nightsoul's Blessing and needs her to have Nightsoul Points or Phlogiston to keep Turbo Twirly on the field. |
Kinich | When Kinich is in the air following his skill Canopy Hunter: Riding High's mid-air swing, he can consume Phlogiston points to perform another mid-air swing. |
We'll update this section as more Natlan characters are released in the future!
Artifact | Artifact Bonuses |
---|---|
Obsidian Codex |
2-PC: While the equipping character is in Nightsoul's Blessing and is on the field, their DMG dealt is increased by 15%. 4-PC: After the equpping character consumes 1 Nightsoul point while on the field, CRIT Rate increases by 40% for 6s. This effect can trigger once every second. |
Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City |
2-PC: When a nearby party member triggers a Nightsoul Burst, the equipping character regenerates 6 Elemental Energy. 4-PC: After the equipping character triggers a reaction, all nearby party members gain a 12% Elemental DMG Bonus for the involved Elemental Types for 15s. If the equipping character is in the Nightsoul's Blessing state when triggering this effect, all party members gain an additional 28% Elemental DMG bonus for the Elemental Types involved in the reaction for 20s. |
Both of the new Version 5.0 Artifacts can make use of Nightsoul's Blessing and Nightsoul Burst, with Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City being a periodic activation, and Obsidian Codex's entire identity being based around it.

I'm a veteran player and can easily sweep primogems from both Spiral Abyss and Imaginarium Theatre but also did not bother to learn what Nightsoul system is. Thank you for this, now I know what Nightsoul Burst and Blessing is.
