Rilai is a hidden boss and is one of the Local Legends of Natlan located southwest of Masters of the Night-Wind in Genshin Impact 5.2. Check out where to find it and how to beat it in this guide!
Rilai is an overworld boss found playing her instrument near Masters of the Night-Wind. You can approach her without starting a fight and she will only fight you if you attack her first.
Rilai is most likely going to be one of the hardest Local Legend you will fight in Genshin so far. She have a lot of zoning attacks and homing projectiles that will make it hard for you to survive. She also can't be CC'd which makes it hard to lock her in place.
We suggest bringing out a team with ample healing and shielding as it is quite hard to just avoid all the attacks Rilai will throw at you. This will be a battle of attrition and patience.
Rilai will have a lot of homing attacks that can hit your character if you're not sprinting. However, sprinting to the side before the attacks hit is the best course of action against these.
Rilai will also periodically substitute herself with a bomb while you are attacking her from melee range and teleport herself farther away. This attack is extremely annoying as spamming normal attacks will usually result in the player triggering the bomb in close proximity. To add insult to injury, Rilai will also hurl bombs in a straight line from where she is to sow chaos.
We suggest being cautious about spamming attacks while in melee range, and since the bombs she throws are moving slowly & in a straight line they should be easy to avoid.
Rilai will usually teleport to the center of a large area and summon multiple Cryo attacks in a large area of effect. She will track the player's location so you need to move at all times and avoid being inside the AoE once the frigid attacks descend.
Thankfully, Rilai will not move while channeling Fusion Nova so this could be an opportunity for you to dish out some free damage.

A Bloom Team will shine bright against Rilai as they will usually have a definitive healer. Also, Kokomi as the hydro driver can straight up counter the bomb substitution move so you don't have to worry about it anymore. Also, bloom cores will explode immediately in Bloom Teams, so you won't have to worry about Rilai's tendency to reposition a lot.
Make sure to always spam Baizhu's skill and burst so your health is always in tip-top shape. Remember, this is a battle of attrition so the last one standing wins.

Burning teams that feature Emilie also works well against Rilai. Considering she is extremely mobile, Emilie's Dendro AoE application will be consistent. Also, Burning is a reaction that stays within the enemy so persistent damage is possible even if Rilai moves a lot.

Neuvillette | Furina | Zhongli | Xilonen |
Teams with a shielder also shine against this enemy. Considering the bombs can interrupt your attacks, having a shielder will essentially provide interruption resistance so you can attack more.
In addition, it will also give you the leeway to tank some attacks and not perfectly dodge everything. We still suggest evading all attacks though, as the frequency of attacks from Rilai is too high that shields can definitely break.
Server Reset | 04:00 |

Just like most overworld enemies, you will have to wait until the next day for Rilai to respawn. After defeating the enemy, you can fight it again after the next server reset.
Rilai is one of the Local Legends of Natlan. Defeating them rewards you with an achievement!
