Original Resin won't be needed to participate in this event, just like previous events. You'll be free to play and participate as much as you want.
All That Glitters Guide
Similar to Albedo's release, Xiao's story quest will be integrated into the Lantern Rite as the first part of the event and will act as the unlock requirements.
Like the Chalk Prince and the Dragon event as well, the All That Glitters part of the event looks to be the Event Story Quests that will unlock after certain dates.

Needed to Unlock Other Lantern Rite Parts
In order to unlock and participate in the other parts of the Lantern Rite event, the relevant quests in All That Glitters will need to be completed first.
Lantern Rite Tales Guide
The second event, Lantern Rite Tales, will have the player taking 9 requests from the citizens of Liyue to increase the Festive Fever level during the Lantern Rite Event.

A new tower defense challenge mode will be playable during the Lantern Rite Event called Theater Mechanicus. Theater Mechanicus will allow 2 player co-op and selectable difficulties. The more difficult the stage, the more rewards players will receive!

This event allows you to acquire one 4-star Liyue character. This can be a character that you want to build Constellation Levels, or an entirely new character for you to try out!
Xiao Market Guide
The Xiao Maket is the event shop associated with Theater Mechanicus. Xiao Market will give players access to new gadgets for increased gameplay quality of life over the course of the event.
You can use Peace Talismans that you got as a reward from the Theater Mechanicus to purchase items from the event shop.
