With Raiden Shogun as one of the available trial characters and the First Half heavily incentivizing Elemental Bursts, use Raiden to recharge Elemental Energy and spam bursts with your other characters.
As for general team building, running Electro-Charged is your best bet as it often carries good team Energy Recharge, as well as good AoE for clearing out the Hilichurl waves.
Most of the buff conditions with the Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King cater towards using Vaporize or Melt teams, especially with the Mountain King's flamegranate mechanic, and especially with Citlali as one of the available characters.

The First Half's main method of point acquisition is by using Elemental Bursts repeatedly. This is easily done by having Raiden Shogun in your party and having several Elemental Burst users.

Breaking the Mountain King's flamegranate as it spawns them is worth a few of its HP bars and also stuns it in place, allowing you to get free damage in.
As much as possible, take advantage of this opportunity whenever it comes as free uninterrupted damage can do wonders against this boss.

With the availability of Citlali for the Mountain King, as well as its spinning attacks which can juggle you in the air, a Shielder or interruption resistance is a must in order to save time against this boss.

All buffs can be triggered consistently just by using a Vaporize or Melt team's regular damage rotation, so focus on your normal damage rotation and you will end up constantly benefitting from the buffs.
