In Varka's Story quest, it is revealed that Roland pledged allegiance with the Abyss after hearing the injustice that the gods bestowed upon Khaenri'ah. Hence, the Wild Hunt can imitate his appearance after Rerir's downfall during Act 4 of Nod-Krai Archon Quest.
During his time in Khaenri'ah, he also encountered Vedroflnir, where he foresaw Varka's expedition in the future.
Lupus Majoris Chapter Act I Guide

The sword of the Bloodstained Knight was left in a stone in Ashveil Peak of Nod-Krai. It is currently unknown as to why the sword is left there, but the sword is seemingly sentient as it talked about not wanting to be disturb.
Based on the text, it is currently waiting for someone to wake up from its slumber, possibly from the Knights of Favonius. The sword is located next to the Homesick Lone Wolf Local Legend.

Rostam, who is Rosalyne's lover, mentioned Arundolyn and Roland before he died, according to the Elegy for the End's lore.
The Bloodstained Knight was formerly known as the White Knight, who was a member of the Knights of Favonius and Roland was Rostam's student while he was still in the Knights of Favonius. It was Rostam who taught him chivalry and justice, and what strived him to follow the path of justice.

According to the Black Sword's lore, there was once a knight, clad in white, who longed for the path of justice. This Knight would often correct the injustices that he saw during his time in the Knights of Favonius.
At one point during his journey, the Knight lost himself to his sense of justice, turning his morals into a form of perverse altruism and purging everything he considers evil on his path. His slaughter is what turned him into who is now known as the Bloodstained Knight.

The Maiden Beloved once fell in love with the White Knight when he saved her from monsters. She tried giving the White Knight a reward, but the Knight simply said that chivalry has its own rewards already.

Viridescent was one of the people who fought against the Abyss during the Cataclysm. However, at one point during her quest to slay monsters, she suffered the effects of erosion, losing her reason to fight the Abyss.
She eventually got corrupted by the Abyss, becoming one of the monsters that she had slain before. The Bloodstained Knight came across her during his journey to the west and killed her, as he saw her as a monster rather than a human.
