Moonsign is a new party-wide mechanic introduced in Genshin Impact 6.0 with the Nod-Krai region. Learn how the Moonsign system works, how to raise Moonsign Levels, and which characters benefit the most from this mechanic in this guide!
List of Contents

Moonsign is a unique team mechanic tied to Nod-Krai characters.
This helps unlock certain effects from Nod-Krai character abilities, and increase Lunar Reaction DMG.

The Moonsign Level increases when you add Moonsign characters to your team.
Moonsign has two levels that enhance Moonsign units’ Skills and Talents: having one Moonsign unit activates Nascent Gleam, while having two activates Ascendant Gleam.

While Moonsign characters gain direct upgrades like enhanced Talents, non-Moonsign characters can still benefit from teamwide buffs to Lunar-related reactions.
This makes Moonsign flexible, as it strengthens both enablers like Aino and DPS units that rely on reactions.
| Level | Effect |
|---|---|
| Nascent Gleam | One Moonsign Character All characters in the party will gain the "Moonsign: Nascent Gleam" effect. |
| Ascendant Gleam | Two Moonsign Characters All characters in the party will gain the "Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam" effect, enhancing certain Talents and Skills of Moonsign characters. Unless otherwise stated, when Moonsign Level reaches Ascendant Gleam, the effects of Nascent Gleam will also apply. In addition, for 20s after a non-Moonsign character casts an Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst, they will increase the Lunar Reaction DMG dealt by all nearby characters based on their own Elemental Type, up to a maximum of 36%. This effect cannot stack. If the character's Elemental Type is: • Pyro, Electro, or Cryo: Increases this DMG by 0.9% for every 100 ATK. • Hydro: Increases this DMG by 0.6% for every 1,000 Max HP. • Geo: Increases this DMG by 1% for every 100 DEF. • Anemo or Dendro: Increases this DMG by 2.25% for every 100 Elemental Mastery. |
Characters like Lauma can get access to different effects in their Talents when Nascent Gleam is in effect. While other characters like Aino can be enhanced only if Ascendant Gleam is active.
It’s important to note that Nascent Gleam and Ascendant Gleam do not stack. For example, if you have two Moonsign characters in your party, only Ascendant Gleam will activate.

In Nod-Krai, you can unlock the Moon's Embrace by finishing The Dark Side of Memory quest!
This allows you to temporarily access Ascendant Gleam even if you only have one Moonsign character as long as you're in Nod-Krai, which lasts for a week after completing the quest.

If the Ascendant gleam buff from non Nod-Krai does not stack, does that mean if you have 2 chars in a team the one with the highest value is the only one that counts if you don't reach the cap? Like if a hydro character only has 50k HP (you need 60k for the full 36% dmg buff) is that the only buff we can get or can we make it a full 36% by adding another character? Like 2 characters with 30k HP each for example.

No. Instead of the highest, it takes into consideration the last non-Nod Krai character's stats. In your example, not only does it not stack in any way, but if you swap in another non-Nod Krai character after your 50k HP hydro character, that newer character's contribution to the buff would override the 50k HP character's totally, potentially making it much worse until your 50k HP character casts a skill or burst again.
