How to Unlock The Story Begins in a Forest Without Rain

Go to Simulanka

The Story Begins in a Forest Without Rain is located at Forest of Blessings, in the nation of Simulanka. A brand new limited time map introduced in Version 4.8. You can unlock this quest by completing The Song of the Dragon and Freedom quest.

The Story Begins in a Forest Without Rain Walkthrough

Open the Strange Book

Open the strange book on top of a table in Mondstadt, just northwest of the waypoint in the middle of the city. The book can be found behind the house, where Timaeus and the Alchemy's Crafting Bench are located.

Upon interacting with the strange book, you and Paimon will be teleported in Simulanka.

Continue Exploring Along the Path

Upon arriving in Simulanka, continue exploring along the path to get to know the place you have just been teleported into. There will be a cutscene where two Paper Frogs are talking to each other once you have reached the objective.

Follow the Paper Frogs

Follow the Paper Frogs in the Quest

After the cutscene, follow the two Paper Frogs, Firecracker and Stream, and try to catch up to them to ask for information about the place.

Continue Forward Along the Path

Having lost sight of the Paper Frogs, continue forward along the path, and a cutscene will occur with a Paper Hamster named Almond. Almond the Forest Elder explains to you everything you need to know about Simulanka.

Go to the Hut of Blessings

Almond tells you to go to the Hut of Blessings, so you can meet the forest fairy that can help solve the problems the forest dwellers are facing in Simulanka.

Talk to Nilou the Forest Fairy and Unlock the Event Screen

Talk to Nilou at the Hut of Blessings to unlock the Summertide Scales and Tales Event screen and all its features.

Help the Forest Dwellers with Nilou

To help the forest dwellers with Nilou, you must solve the Pipe Puzzle of Chestnut and Ginkgo, assist Steam with his singing alongside the Paper Frogs, and help the Paper Alpaca, Citrus, add fruits to the Magic Tonic!

How to Solve the Rotate Pipe Puzzle

	How to Solve the Rotate Pipe Puzzle
1	One of the forest dwellers locations is just north of the Hut of Blessings. Your objective is to help two Paper Hamsters, Chestnut and Ginko, and let the Magic Tonic flow through the pipes and into a jar.
2	Rotate the three pipes to make them aligned with all the other pipes.
3	Talk to the Hamster on the far end of all the pipes and let the Magic Tonic flow through.
4	Once the Magic Tonic reaches the last part of the puzzle, rotate the last pipe again to align it perfectly for the Magic Tonic to pass through into the jar.

How to Solve the Paper Frog Puzzle

	How to Solve the Paper Frog Puzzle
1	The location of one of the forest dwellers is northwest of the Hut of Blessings. Your objective is to perfectly time your jump based on the other frog's jumps until the timer ends during the Paper Frog Choir performance.
2	Talk to the Frog Conductor to begin the choir's performance once you are ready.
3	You simply need to time your jump perfectly based on the other three frogs jump until the timer ends.

How to Solve the Paper Alpaca Fruit Puzzle

	How to Solve the Paper Alpaca Fruit Puzzle
1	In one of the forest dwellers locations west of the Hut of Blessings, you will need to solve a gathering puzzle that involves Citrus the Paper Alpaca. Your objective is to gather all the items and put them in storage.
2	Gather the items by pulling the Alpaca's tail to increase the length of its neck so it can easily grab the items from the higher places. You can pull its tail by walking away from the Alpaca and clicking the normal attack button to grab the item. Once you get the item, put it in the storage, which is the barrel with a metal funnel beside the Alpaca.

Return to the Hut of Blessings

Return to the Hut of Blessings to discuss with Nilou what you have learned so far from the Forest Dwellers. A cutscene will also trigger here where Nilou will make a Paper Hamster and name it Padisarah.

Collect the Materials Used to Make Magic Tonic

Collect the three materials used to make Magic Tonic by going down the cliff just south of the Hut of Blessings. You will need to get one of each item of A Dragon That Cannot Fly, A Setting Sun That Never Sets, and A Moon That Only Shines At Night.

Note that for collecting the A Moon That Only Shines At Night, you have to defeat a bunch of Shroom-Kin and Fungi enemies just to get it.

Return to the Hut of Blessings

Return to the Hut of Blessings and watch as Nilou mixes all the materials together to make a Magic Tonic and pours it into an empty bottle.

Give the Magic Tonic to Grandpa Almond

Give the Magic Tonic to Grandpa Almond and watch as he regains his colors.

Go to the Calligraphy Tavern

Go to the Calligraphy Tavern just south of the Hut of Blessings and watch as Nilou restores the tavern's color and its beauty.
