How to Solve Gear Drivetrain Puzzles

Use the Operator Device to Operate the Gears

Genshin - Drive Valve Parts

The Drive Valve contains two types of gears: Drivetrains, and the main Core Gear Drive. The main operator device that activates both these gears is located on the northwest corner.

Drivetrains are the smaller removable parts, while the Core Gear Drive is the middle unremovable part that has a big pointer on it.

Make Both Gears Point at Each Other

Both the Drivetrain and the Core Drive need to match and face at each other so that the respective location pointed by the latter gets unlocked. The video above demonstrates how to open the Energy Storage Warehouse, which is located east of the map.

Gears Move Clockwise and Anti-clockwise

A tip is to have both the Drivetrain and the Core Gear Drive to look completely opposite of each other before running the operator device. Running the device would eventually point towards one another, then press Stop once both gears are in line!

Connect Both Gears to a Corner

Genshin - Drive Trains Valve Locations

All four corners of this gear opens up four main rooms. The Drive Train that points towards the Supply Warehouse 1 is unremovable on your first visit, so it would immediately open up this location when both gears are aligned.

Remove and Install from the Gear

Once you get to the Abandoned Production Zone in the Fortress of Meropide, there should be two Drivetrains already in place. You can only remove one of these Drivetrains to your inventory for later use!

In the Unfinished Comedy quest chain in the Fortress of Meropide, you can get an additional Drivetrain to open up the rest of the locations.
