Clearing out the boiling hot spring water in the Beryl Region of Fontaine grants players with the Core Cooling achievement. Learn how to clear out the boiling water near the hot springs, how to get the Core Cooling achievement, and more!
List of Contents
First, go to the hot spring in the Beryl Region of Fontaine. The location is found in the map above.
Going into the boiling water drains your character's HP, so you can't dive in!
You will then see a treasure chest in the middle of the hot spring. To unlock it, you have to collect three (3) Water Volume Detection Crystals scattered around the Boiling Lake!
Objectives | |
---|---|
1 | From the Waypoint nearest to the boiling water in Beryl Region, glide towards the Armored Crab enemies to your right. Defeat them, and move the Water Volume Detection Crystal once. |
2 | Then, head forward until you see the Pnuemousia Storage Box to your left. Use any Ousia-aligned attack, or use the nearby Ousia Block to reveal the Detection Crystal inside. Move it once, afterwards. |
3 | Lastly, press forward until you see the Flaming Flower field beside a small rock formation littered with vines. Burn the vines to reveal the third Detection Crystal using Pyro. Move it once, afterwards! |
4 | Once all three Water Volume Detection Crystals are around the Precious Chest in the middle of the Boiling Lake, glide towards it. There are elevated areas around the lake that let you glide down the islet without scalding yourself! |
Once you've opened the treasure chest, a Hydro portal will unlock. Ride the portal and you will be transported to an underwater chasm. Go to the surface and you'll see a cave with a hot, lava crystal at the center.
To disable the lava crystal, players must activate the totem switch and flood the cave. To do this, players must put three Hydro Cores on altars beside three Abyss Mage campfires. Hydro Cores are fully-charged Miraculous Hydrograna.
Once the Hydro Totem is unlocked and activated, it will flood the entire cavern, and cool-down the lava crystal that makes the lake boil!
Objectives | |
---|---|
1 | As soon as you enter the cavern, head forward until you see an empty campfire to your right. Then, go past it until you see a Hydro Stone to your left, which you need to hit to reveal the Mysterious Hydrogranum inside. Pick up the Hydrogranum and charge it until it becomes a Hydro Core. |
3 | Once fully-charged, head towards the nearest campfire and install the core into the mechanism. You'll know it's successfully installed when there's a Hydro around it. |
4 | Then, go back to the Hydrogranum and it pick it up once again, and place a Hydro Core into the mechanism on the campfire near the cavern's entrance. |
5 | The last camp is located just past the locked Hydro Totem, which is guarded by a Pyro Abyss Mage and some Pyro Slimes. |
6 | After defeating the mobs, hit the nearby Hydro Barrels to free the Hydrograna inside them. Picking up the three automatically charges them up to a Hydro Core. Install that core in the nearest campfire to unlock the Hydro Totem! |
A hydro portal will spawn on top of the totem then ride it towards the Iron Viscount. Don't forget to claim the chest that spawned in front of it.
Ignore the Iron Viscount and just swim to the Fontaine Current in the cave behind it to push through with this quest.
You may also opt to fight this Local Legend of Fontaine! In case you want to do so, check out our guide on how to defeat Iron Viscount here:
How to Defeat the Iron Viscount
Get ashore once you reach the end of the current. Ride the Hydro portal found in the room to the right to go to the surface
Do not forget to get the Hydroculus found behind the vines!
The Hydro Portal will launch you towards the surface and you'll get the 'Core Cooling' achievement. The boiling spring will be cooled down as well, so you are now free to dive in for all the loot underwater.
