How to Get the Free 5-Star Character
Access from the Event Screen
To claim your free 5-star character, go to the Event Screen in-game to access the anniversary event. Click on Invite Character to start selecting your chosen unit.
Note that the game will prompt you again to confirm your choice.
Available Every Anniversary Version
It was confirmed in the 5.0 livestream that for every anniversary versions, players can choose one free 5-star character from the standard banner!
They also confirmed that more characters will be added in the Standard Banner in the future, which means the character pool for this selector may get bigger every year!
Complete Prologue: Act I to Unlock
Travelers must first unlock the Wish system by completing Prologue: Act 1 - The Outlander Who Caught the Wind before they can choose a free Standard 5-Star Character during every anniversary version.

Best Standard 5-Star to Invite
Generally speaking, Tighnari, Mona, and Jean are the best standard 5-star characters to invite for new, free-to-play, or returning players as they are still relevant in the current meta.
Mizuki is the most recent addition to the current roster, so if you need a new Anemo character to play with for Swirls, you can choose her for your collection!
If you need Masterless Stella Fortuna, you can also choose an already or soon to be C6 Standard Character so you can claim one as compensation!

・Fast and quick DPS that is also easy to ascend and control. She can also use her Teleport to access cliffs or higher areas like in Liyue. ・Works better with a Dendro character like the Dendro Traveler, although you'll have to go to the Sumeru Region to unlock them first. |

・Strong DPS character for newer players. ・Can help with Pyro application for puzzles, or breaking ores with his Claymore. |

・Provides interruption resistance for the party and damage mitigation, but the party still takes damage. ・Serviceable damage but if you're looking for a Pyro character who can carry you with sheer DPS, Diluc is the better pick at C0. |

・One of the highest healing potential but you may find the cooldowns a bit limiting especially if you need it in a pinch. ・In terms of healing and utility, Jean is the better pick for most situations. |

・Thrives better with Xianyun on Plunging Attacks, and can reach the height of the best 5-star DPS with this playstyle. Otherwise, other limited Pyro characters like Arlecchino trumps over him. |

・Great scaling with the best Dendro characters like Nahida, although if you already have someone like Clorinde or Alhaitham, they're the better picks for her supposed supports. |
