You can unlock Tatara Tales: Functional Test by completing the previous subquest, Tatara Tales: Process is Everything, and waiting for one server reset! This means that you cannot do more than one Tatara Tales subquest in a single day!
Tatara Tales: Process Is Everything Quest
Following the events from the previous day, talk to Xavier again back in his HQ nearby Mikage Furnace. He will tell you that to fully help him test the reliability of his purifiers, he needs to do preliminary tests first before putting them out in the field!
Thus, Xavier asks you to collect three Onikabuto for him to test the purifying capabilities of his machine. If you head east from Xavier, you'll find exactly three Onikabuto on trees in the marked area!
Once you have the Onikabuto you need, head back to Xavier and give them to him.
Tatara Tales: Functional Test is a subquest of the quest, Tatara Tales, where we accompany and help Xavier fix the Mikage Furnace, and keep its Tatarigami Core from going haywire!
Tatara Tales: Functional Test is the sixth part of the Tatara Tales world quest chain. The succeeding subquests of Tatara Tales unlock after one server reset.
