Nameless Bloodstained Monument is Varka's exclusive World Quest in Genshin Impact Luna V version. See how to unlock this quest, how to defeat Boreas's Shadow, its walkthrough, and all the rewards of this quest here in this guide!
List of Contents

You can unlock Nameless Bloodstained Monument by pulling for Varka and interacting with the sword hilt located on the northwest of Amsvartnir. Some users have reported not triggering the quest but being able to fight the shadow, to which we recommend ascending Varka or teleporting to a different region to trigger the quest. Additionally, you'll have to complete The Song of the Dragon and Freedom to unlock Varka's quest.
The Song of the Dragon and Freedom Guide

After getting and ascending Varka to Level 70, teleport to the Cliffwatch Camp, and head to the dilapidated ruins northwest of Amsvartnir. On it, you'll spot the The Homesick Lone Wolf guarding a glowing sword stuck into a stone.
You can accept the challenge by touching the sword, but you may have to defeat the Lone Wolf first, if you haven't yet, otherwise it'll attack your party, and render you unable to touch the hilt of the sword!
The Homesick Lonewolf Valiant Chronicles

To defeat Boreas's Shadow, you'll have to fight it using your own Varka, which is why ascending him at least to level 70 is required to unlock the quest. The fight is extremely hard, and won't allow you to use items, and bring your party inside the domain, so it's crucial to build your Varka first before jumping straight to this fight!
Based on our testing, Level 80 is the sweet-spot when it comes to readying your Varka for this fight against Boreas's Shadow. If you're rushing and would want to get his weapon skin immediately, then level 80 is the perfect spot to stop building him. While Level 70 is the minimum requirement to unlock the quest, its damage is still considerably low to defeat Boreas's Shadow.
| How to Defeat Boreas | |
|---|---|
| 1 | You can defeat Boreas's Shadow by surviving the first phase of the fight, as you'll go into the fray without any means to survive. You can't bring potions, can't eat food, and since you can't bring your party, you can't rely on rotations to deal damage. |
| 2 | As soon as the fight starts, run towards Boreas but do not get close, as he will attack you with either his homing Ice Spear attack, or swipe at you with his paw. Managing your stamina is crucial during Phase 1, and dodging these two attacks will consume stamina. |
| 3 | Instead, you'll want his pounce attack where he'll jump at your current location, and mark it with a swirling ice attack, which you can dodge by simply running away from it or by sprinting away from it once. This is more stamina-efficient, and will bring Boreas closer to you. |
| 4 | Once he's close, he will continue attacking you with different close-combat attacks, all of which are easy to dodge, except the ice wave attack. This wave attack doesn't deal much damage, but it slows Varka, which means dodging Boreas' upcoming attacks will be incredibly hard, and stamina-expensive. If you sprint before he pounces down, you'll be immune from the damage and slow-effect, so make sure to keep an eye out when he charges this attack. |
| 5 | Another devastating attack set of Boreas is when he charges momentarily and calls down a barrage of 7-8 icicles from the sky, as he uses this attack alongside all his other close-combat attacks, so dodging is inevitable during this phase. You can use your ULT to skip frames and escape damage, but we suggest primarily focusing on dodging instead of attacking, to avoid depleting your Stamina bar. |
| 6 | Once you've whittled down Boreas's HP bar to about 60%, he will enter the Interlude phase, where he disappears from the center, and runs around the battlefield and deal two instances of charge attacks. Each attack is extremely easy to dodge, so long as you stay put and only dodge when he's locked in to your position. |
| 7 | Afterwards, Boreas will enter Phase 2, and will summon three floating ice platforms with unextinguished flame of battle on each and one of them. The flames will heal Varka, and will infuse his sword in Pyro when you've collected three flames. Hold Varka's elemental skill to propel yourself upwards to easily land on each platform. The field will deal DoT Cryo damage, so make sure to reach Boreas as quickly as possible, before your HP bar gets fully depleted. |
| 8 | Once you've shattered Boreas's shield, the platforms will disappear, and Boreas will summon a mirror image of it that also mitigates the damage that Boreas receives. You'll have to constantly collect flames of battle to infuse your sword with Pyro, and deal Pyro-Swirl damage to the mirage to defeat it. |
| 9 | When defeated, Boreas will revert to its original state and hit you with its attacks from Phase 1. Do the same tactics as Phase 1 until Boreas's shadow is defeated. |

After defeating Boreas's Shadow, explore the Knights' Memories during the follow up cutscenes. As the quest concludes, you'll have the option to teleport out of the domain and head back to Teyvat.

This whole post is objectively wrong. You don't have to do any quest and Varka can be under level 20. I have 100% exploration in the area, but haven't touched any of the new content other than the red sword and was immediately able to face the Shadow.
